No. The account pays a variable rate (currently 1%) + a fixed bonus of 2.25%. So it could end up paying close to the latter.

It really pays to read the Ts&Cs BEFORE open a savings account. I am amazed that more people don't do so.

I sent off the application form and cheque on the 29th September. The money left my current account on the 6th October but I still haven't heard from the Derbyshire yet with my account number etc. Have other people had to wait more than 2 weeks?

1st Oct - Filled in online application form (requested to have form sent to me to sign).
7th Oct - Received app form and posted back with cheque.
12th Oct - Spoke to Derbyshire BS, they confirmed they have received app and will honour the 3.25% rate.
17th Oct - Opening deposit cheque cashed.
18th Oct - Received welcome letter with account number & online user id.

I know they were very busy with the high demand for these accounts. If they have cashed your cheque then your account must have been set up. Maybe you should give them a call and query it. The phone number on my welcome pack is 08456 002 004
