London Hotel for one night in January

Hi, staying in London for one night in January as we are going to an O2 event, but would also like to see the usual sites like covent garden etc. We arrive at London Victoria. Hotels around that area seem to have not so good Trip Advisor reviews due to noise etc. I know its bound to be noisy in the city (!) but am wondering if I should look at a different area, or should I look around the O2 area? Any recommendations - cant afford more than £100 for the one night but need good tube links! Thankyou for any help.
Im knitty, Im nutty, but I dont know anyone called Nora.

We went to London in August and stopped in a b&b in Wandsworth - was about a 10 min walk to the tube but buses right outside the door that took 5 mins to get to Victoria. We paid £50 a night - the room was fairly basic but was clean, quiet and had free wi-fi so for that price in peak season I was pretty happy0
