going abroad o2 blackberry
Also if i really need to use the internet on my phone - do I just go to a place were free wi fi is and switch my wi fi on?
I am pretty new to all these modern internet phones, but recently upgraded to one on a monthly contract, I used to be pay as you go and knew exactly what I was using when abroad,
I would appriciate some good advice from all you clever people out there - thanx

Switch off anything to do with data before you go.
Better still, pick up a free PAYG SIM, put it in an old phone and leave your Blackberry here. Won't cause you much grief if the phone gets lost, stolen or damaged then.
Many hotels/towns have internet access - won't cost much to check your email that way.
Presumably it's a holiday, so have a holiday from your phone, facebook etc. You'll survive - those of us who can remember the days before mobile phones did!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. i was thinking of getting a cheap phone to do just that,
I am not really bothered about all these fancy phones and don't know really why I got one - but got into a 2 year contract trying to impress myself i suppose,
I stupidly gave my neat little samsung phone to a friend so will have to buy one now - didn't really want to do that,
I suppose i could ask around to see if anyone has a spare phone to lend me, If I put my own sim card in it will it just let me use it how i used to use my mobie abroad = just to text with no hidden chargesbecame debt free December 060 -
Call O2 and see what they can do. I think there is a Blackberry Abroad bolt on. I went to Norway for 9 days a couple of years ago and didn't switch anything off. Had full Blackberry message service and emails just as in the UK and the bill for that month was £78 and that included talking on MSN for hour and a half. I was on a £35pm contract.0

If you can't get hold of an old phone for nothing, you can probably get one off your local market for just a little more. I've used Orange PAYG in Turkey. Only used it to call a local taxi and tour operator. Think I put £20 on it before I went and still had most of it when I came back.
Just make sure the service has got international roaming on it and you should be fine.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
