I would like to use a photograph to make a dozen personal invitations. Where is the best place to look and would it be possible to have the writing printed?

I would use Microsoft Publisher for this job, but Word or any such program should be fine too.

If you want to look for a photo to use, use google images, select large for better quality

Is it handwriting you want to add, if so, have you got access to a scanner?

I want to use my own photograph.

I have microsoft office publisher 2007. Never used it before. Is it simple to use?

I hadn't thought about using handwriting but do have access to a scanner, not sure I know how to work it.

I am thinking of a an invitation with a photograph on the front and printed words inside or if that's not possible like a postcard would be acceptable.

You can use greeting card blanks, two sizes here with envelopes

You could use paint.net to make a blank image size, then insert the photo in to half of it and print on to the greeting card outer

Word will probably give you as good a result as any for the text

If you wanted to use handwriting, write on a piece of paper which will fit in to or on to what you are going to use for the card, scan it to the PC as an image, then print on to the card.

Until you get the sizing correct, use plain paper

So lets see if I've got this right I can buy the ready folded photograph paper and then print my photograph on the front and then print the words inside after. Sounds simple enough. Is there anything else I need to know?

Can I use normal photograph paper and then fold it?

Using the pre-folded ones, the A4 may be better as they are photo quality on the outside, as before, use plain paper until you get the sizing right

Fold a piece of photo paper and see how it looks, sorry to be vague on that one
  • check how much you're spending on photocard and ink - a Vistaprint 'free' deal may work out cheaper. Or the other photo printing places usually have notelet / postcard options available.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

Can you get them to print the invitation words that I want? The reason being as I've found no where that makes these particular invitations.

One option, open Publisher, choose blank A4 Landscape, click insert, click picture, find the picture you want to use, click insert.

Move it to where you want it, left click the picture and hold the mouse button down, move the image, or use the squares on the outside of the image to resize it.

That is likely to be one half of the blank A4 Landscape.

Click insert, click draw text box

Left click and hold the mouse button down in a blank part, move the mouse until you have a box large enough for the text, release the mouse button.

    Type the text

Click save, click the arrow for the dropdown menu, save as JPEG Interchangeable format, name the file and note where it is saving to

Open the file with an image viewer, such as irfanview, use that to rotate the image from landscape to portrait.
