44pinkpink, I did read and I wasn't bored at all.

Well done for making a start. I'm really interested to hear how you get on, so feel free to come back here, post on how you're progressing and arrange your thoughts.

Have a read of at least the first couple of pages of the House Buying and House Selling 'stickies' at the top of the board. They'll be of great help to you.

Time to call the Financial Advisor :D and maybe get a few valuations on your house. It will help you know what you can better afford. Having some details sent will whet your appetite too. :)

I hope everything works out for you :kisses3:

With my vindictive hat on ;), I'd say shop him (anonymously) to the Inland Revenue. You say he works 'cash in hand' so he might be liable for lots of back income tax, and you say he might have a secret account somewhere....

Obviously, that might backfire if he ends up going bankrupt.

Why on earth? I mean, he acted as guarantor for the mortgage and has apparently kept up to date with maintenance for the family. And his lifestyle does not sound at all extravagant: weekends in Europe and even a week in India cost less than what most people spend (waste?) on their mobile phone in a month. I have a lot more sympathy for this man than for many others in this situation.

But he is guilty of tax evasion, which is a criminal matter. The 'extravagance' is neither here nor there really.
