Advice please- which car?

Skoda Octavias - Big, comfy, well regarded and will hold their value
Ford Mondeos (but beware Dual Mass Flywheel and Injector problems, do your research before you buy!)
Skoda Fabia 1.4 Tdi if you can stand a smallish Hatch. Very good economical cars.
Jaguar X-Type 2.0d - estates are available in your price range. Check insurance though. Might surprise you!
Honda Accord 2.2Tdi's may just be dipping into your price range.
Go on to auto trader, put in a price bracket of £3,000-£4,000, diesel (if it must be a diesel) and a few other requirements, but leave make and model blank. You might be surprised what it trawls up for you. I'm sad enough that it's one of my favorite games!
The Accord is an awesome car (wish id never sold mine sometimes) but there was less room in the back seats then there is in my 2004 5 door civic. on the saloon the boot opening was also pathetically small. and it's insurance group 12, as opposed to 6 on the civic.0
