I meant to write this at the weekend but forgot!
This is the same friend that, when at the weekend I dropped into conversation I had a few clothes on ebay said “who sells clothes on ebay?” I said “ Lot’s of people, it’s a good way to get cash” she said “but who buys them?” I said “lots of people, it’s a good way of getting cheap clothes” this went on forever and she just would not accept it and I ended the conversation when I started getting offended at her comments!

Might need to keep this friend on the backburner until she accepts I’m not playing miss rich anymore (I never was “miss rich” but spent like I was – its easy to get carried away) funny how a change in attitude to money can bring these things to light L

A tricky one depending on how dear a friend she is, but from what I've heard she doesn't sound OVERLY supportive!

She is not a true friend if she cannot be supportive of your situation. It is horrible being in debt (says one who knows) and it is difficult when friends only care about their next night out at your expense.

I missed out on a weekend away over the August Bank Holiday - I had paid for this ruddy thing back in February but I could not afford the petrol to go and the person who had agreed to have a lift from me decided she would get a lift from someone else. Another person was quite rude and told me that I wasn't welcome because I was unable to afford £20 for petrol:mad: Result - no weekend for me and no money back but I did get to spend some time with a new friend who knows how skint I am - she was kindness itself taking me out for the afternoon to pick sloes and eat cake.

I would be inclined to say that you have a doctors appointment or something that way you don't need to go to the leaving do. As for friends coming around to yours - either they eat spag bol or they go without whilst you have your dinner don't pander to them.

Old friend but not overly supportive due to not having ever experienced it I think. Will just bear it in mind.

I am being super money-organised and used my quiet afternoon at work to produce a Christmas budget. Most years I leave it till Xmas eve and spend a fortune in the shops. This year I'm going to shop around big time! I have produced it on sensible budget but planning to cut at least a third off it! Also planning to spread it out, I was told there are only 3 more paydays till xmas which scared the hell outta me! So I want to spend a little towards it each month. Also that way, I can gradually transport it home in one trip saving me the lovely train journey with a huge heavy suitcase!

Try and do some paid surveys - some surveys pay you in points which can be converted into vouchers.

I managed to get onto Consumer Pulse and I earn 500 points even if I haven't bought anything as long as I remember to enter my shopping each week. 10000 points is equivalent to a £10 voucher

Valued Opinions and Lightspeed both pay you in points which can be converted into vouchers for places like M&S etc.

Present wise - look in charity shops and see what you can make for yourself. Some charity shops have great selections of clothes and glassware and nicknacks.

You're right, it's going to be very hard to manage this. I might just stress my skintness a little more seriously tonight and hope it sinks in. My spag bol is back on the menu!! So Im still on for a NSD!

That's really awful, sorry to hear that. There are a group of friends back home who I am no longer in contact with over a hen do. A VERY expensive hen do during a time where I had to find £600 to pay back to my old firm when I left due to my annual leave taken  I told them the truth and asked if I could attend part of the hen do and was told no, it was all or nothing and things went downhill from there.

I do need to go to the doctors so I might book an appointment for then so I won't even have to lie :A
    Thanks H!

If I get an invitation email sent to me for Consumer Pulse or Pine Kone then I will let you know via PM because sometimes they have recruitment drives. Pine Kone (not true spelling) will pay in Luncheon Vouchers or you can ask for paypal payments. I have just switched to paypal because I have so many books of LVs to use up.

I think tonight might be the perfect time to [STRIKE]outline[/STRIKE] detail to your friends just the state you are in. Tell them you HAVE to batch cook, that you are relying on support from this forum, your debt-free date, everything. If a friend told me all this I'd be so supportive and encouraging. The spag bol can be the conversation starter!

Its just occurred to me - I wonder how often spag bol is mentioned on this forum. Hehe.

Horace - can I be second in line for those invitations? I've signed up with globalmarketsurvey and mysurvey but get screened out a lot, and its taking me a very long time to earn a decent amount of points!
