Awaiting ppi payment

Hi this is my first post on the Forum
My wife and i are still waiting for a 5 figure sum PPI refund we had the confirmation letter on the 15th August 2011 and were advised it can take up to 21 working days to receive the cheque ??
It is now the 27th Sept (32 WORKING DAYS) and still we have not received a penny.I phoned Lloyds this morning and a young lady said that there was a backlog due to huge demand.
I politely said to her "what if the boot was on the other foot what if we failed to pay a mortgage payment or were late paying a loan?" she simply could not answer me.So i told her that we would probably have an eviction notice or we be charge extortionate bank charges, but again she appologised.
Is there anything that i or anyone that is in a similar position can do ,or do we simply have to be fobbed off by the famous phrase (THERE IS A BACKLOG)
I know that some people have been waiting a lot longer than i, but surely there are powers to be that can put pressure on Lloyds TSB.

Thanks for that it just frustrates me that the banks are quick enough to take money off people however they dont seem to like paying out in a hurry.0

I can understand that!
keep smiling and hopefully the postman wont be too much longer!
dont quote me, but a friend of mine was told lloyds are how paying everyone via cheque and that those who have only so far had an acceptance letter will now not get a calculation letter but a cheque
with how they worked it out, sounds a mess and no doubt slowing everything down

I think that if I worked really hard for 8 hours, I could hand type 600 cheques, put them in envelopes, address them, and then carry them to the post room. This is apparently how many a day they are sending out.
I have also spent decades in software related jobs. They must have a database with all the details. I'm sure I could write the code to do this automatically in somewhere between 5 minutes and a day. I'd be astonished if they don't have this functionality in their software already.
I honestly cannot understand why there is a backlog and why it would take more than an hour to send cheques to everyone who has had their calculations. I can understand why looking into each claim and calculating the funds to be returned is time consuming and labour intensive. But not fetching all the names, addresses and amounts off a database and running a command to send cheques with the information.
SO. WHY CAN'T SOMEONE AT LLOYDS TSB TYPE THE FLIPPING COMMAND / PRESS THE RIGHT BUTTON AND SEND US ALL OUR CHEQUES NOW, TODAY!
Or, employ another school leaver on a 10 grand salary to hand type them and double the speed they are doing it at now.0 -
Rang Lloyds today. Had an offer with a figure on 12th Sept for a credit card. The bloke I spoke to said it should take around 4 weeks from the offer letter. Said that the CC dept are working on cheques from offer letters dated end of August today but are getting through 1500 cheques a day so it could be quicker.
Note this is for a Credit card refund, apparently that department is processing quite 'quickly'.0 -

My claim had got as far as the ombudsman who wrote to us on the 27th July telling us that Lloyds were going to settle our claim. In the letter it stated that Lloyds could take UP TO 8 weeks to contact us with a settlement figure (PPI Mortgage unemployment protection) to date have hearn nothing from them, their 8 weeks is up on Tuesday so I will be on the phone to them!!! Does anyone have a freephone number instead of their 0845 number!! I don't want to give them a penny more of my money that I have to, can't believe it has taken so long we put our Misselling claim in last year, all I can console myself with is the fact the longer they have my money the more interest they will have to pay me!! Fed up nowSPC No. 295 - SPC No10 target £350
