Following on from my other threads, I just want to know the cheapest places to buy taps (decent lever action for basin and bath) and plumbing supplies (plastic pipes, connectors).
I do not mind buying online, but have heard that Screwfix are good?
Cheers,
Andy

I looked in B&Q noted the ones I liked then looked online ebay turned out to be the cheapest.0

ebay can be anything.
Usually, you find cheap means they don't wear well.
Plating wears through quickly, the h and c on the taps, or the coloured dots wear off, and you can't get spares if the ceramic insert goes.0 -
B & Q have quite a lot on half price at the moment.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
state where you live ..then someone will advice of somewhere near that has good quality stuff at cheap prices
for instance ..were i live there are about 5 plumbers merchants plus a few builders merchants ..plus B&Q
by shopping around i can save over 50%
for instance 10mts 10mm copper minibore pipe at
B&Q £32
at plumb centre £65 plus vat
Exact same brand roll at local independent merchants £18 inc vat.

How cheap is cheap? The adage you get what you pay for applies to taps like most things.
Personally I'd be a little wary of eBay taps unless its branded and comes with a warranty. I've had the experience of some of the cheaper Chinese made taps that have tiny defects in the chrome finish or after 6-months use leak or start to have minor problems with lever actions.
I find some of the local places, like B&Q or Homebase, a good place to scout for taps, then usually go online for the better prices.
Personally I have to say branded taps give more piece of mind, like Grohe or Ultra and have good warranties too, but it always comes down to budgets.0 -
I have looked at Grohe and Bilstran (Nice designs), and I should have said that my budget is around £150 - lever action basin single hole mixer, bath twin hole mixer shower. I will have to pay a bit extra for the bath waste (strange that the basin taps often come with pop up wastes, but you have to pay extra for a bath waste).0

Do you have a PTS near you - they do a good deal (ptsplumbing.co.uk).
Bought a bath from them, 130 quid in their brochure - went to pick it up and they gave it me for 90 quid all in.
Thought for the price it would of been a plastic one but it was a nice tin bath - keeps the water warmer for longer so saves the pennies on the gas bill as well!0 -

I can't wait that long, and in the meantime I will just buy shedloads of their super crunchy crisps (Balsamic and sea salt) and get even more porky than I already am!:D
