Hi All,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction I've had a contract phone for years now and renewing every year you know how lazy you can get about these things. I'm paying £40 a month for the dolphin 25 tarriff on Orange. To me this seems a bit steep considering my fiance gets near enough the same as me for £15 a month pay and go with 02.

What is the best pay and go provider out there? I mainly use texts more than phone calls. My phone is unlocked as I got my newish phone at christmas off my fiance so not my old contract phone.

Can I just walk into the Orange shop and cancel my contract?

Once you are at the end of your contract / out of contract you should phone Orange and request your PAC. This will allow you to transfer your number ... you are then free to choose whatever provider you want. Orange might even make you a better offer too!

This depends on the number of minutes and texts you need.
250+unltd are available for £10
100+unltd - for £6

30 days before the end actually as all contracts require at least 30 days notice to cancel.

Not all contracts. This has been explained before.

I am actually out of contract now it ended in August so just in no mans land at the moment did have a phone call off Storm? saying they were part of orange and wanted to give me a better deal blah blah blah when orange have really sold on my details.

My fiance dropped orange last year and went to a 02 payg with unlimited txts and so many minutes for £15 a month but I don't think that offer is still available.

I don't mind not getting a new phone I've got a motorola defy even though the speaker has gone dodgy on it and I have to put it on loud speaker to talk to anyone lol.

Anyway, without knowing what contract the OP was on, it was incorrect to advise to call 'at the end'.

You are on a 1-month rolling contract I guess.

Take a look at giffgaff and talkmobile.

Giffgaff do either payg with texts at 6p each and calls at 10p per minute or monthly goodybags with various combinations of calls and texts. If you wish, you can have a £5 goodybag with unlimited texts and just pay 10p/min for calls or a £10 goodybag gives you unlimited texts, 250 mins talk time and unlimited data (which you wouldn't use).

You can order a sim at any time and keep it ready for switchover. They sometime come with a few pounds free credit on them. They use the O2 network. I've used them in the past and been very pleased with what they offer.

Talkmobile are part of Carphonewarehouse (and nothing to do with t-mobile) and also have various sim only offers. They use the Vodaphone network. If you go to them via Quidco cashback site you can get a better deal.

As you don't have a long term contract you can get a PAC from Orange at any time and it lasts for 30 days. Just take care with giving them notice as they can be awkward if you don't go through the correct procedures.

When you switch your number to a new provider then you lose any remaining minutes/texts allowance on Orange at that time and the sim becomes dead so it makes sense to use up what you have and time it to leave with a few days to go

Have you considered Sim-only? I am on three and have 300 minutes, 3000 texts and 1gb of internet for £7 a month (after cashback).
