  • Mission accomplished. Got DH to phone Halifax and now most of the Tesco balance has been transferred onto his card and best of all - no fee for doing it. I'm trying to work it out on the calculator and there should be around £100 left on the Tesco card. So now my debts are roughly like this

Tesco: £74 (ish) on 16.9% - 2% of balance min payment
    Natwest: £4000 (ish) on 16.9% - 2.25% min payment
    Natwest: £2800 (ish) on 16.9% - 2.25% min payment
    Halifax: £4200 (ish) on 12.9% - interest + £5
    Halifax: £3200 (ish) on 12.9% - interest + 5
    Nationwide £2400 (ish) on 0% for 17 months then 16.9% - interest + £5

Hopefully, as I opened my Halifax account around the same time as DH, they might increase my credit limit in my next statement which is due any time, and then I can move around £1k of one of the Natwest balances to it.

Think I'll have to do another snowball cos my picture and long term picture should be a lot different than it was this time last month.

    WEEKLY SPENDING DIARY POST

I may spend some money today as I don't have any veg in and the farm shop is open, but whatever I spend today I will just update later.

£89.96 - Groceries - more than usual but I did a big freezer shop yesterday
£50.61 - My Personal spends (detailed below)
    £34.02 - petrol - I topped up my tank which was half-full
£28.68 - DH personal spends (i haven't updated his spends for today. he is seeming quite happy to have cash doled out to him daily)
£19.95 - put away some money for our holidays (but it might have to go towards the tyre fund if I run short)
£15.94 - pets (Hmmmm....I can see I'm going to have to include the little blighters in my budget)
£11.49 - DS1 (£2.99 on some goalie gloves instead of an easter egg and then he conned £8.50 out of DH on snow day and bought a magazine and pop, crisps and sweets which I was really mad about).
£1.98 - DS2 (he cadged some chocolate bars and sweets when we went in the pound shop)

    My personal spends this week:
Mon:£4.00 on lunch tickets for the week AND £1.89 on something (but I can't remember what - could be a large bottle of Blue WKD as that's how much it costs
Tue: £0.70 - chocolate vending machine
Wed: £1.30 - chocolate vending machine
Thu: £31.55 - work night out, this includes £10.70 on a taxi home, and £2.60 on the bus there (so £18+ on alcohol and a packet of crisps) AND £2.55 spent in Tesco in the morning on some Danish Pastry's and a 3-pack of magazines
Fri: £2.07 - 3 Ken Follet books for my kindle
Sat: £2.95 - battery for my pedometer
    Sun: £0.00 (yet)

Obviously next week should spend less as no nights out planned and groceries should be much cheaper but then again we need to buy a new tyre.....

Desperately need to shift some weight so I'm going to start a diet again today and try to exercise more (hence buying the pedometer battery). This is how inactive I am; I replaced the battery at 1pm and by the time I went to bed at 11pm I had only done 350+ steps!

Proud of my moneysaver-in-the-making DS1, A month ago I bought him FIFA Street for £37.94. He's finished the game and it wasn;t as good as he thought it would be, so he decided - while CEX are still giving a good price for trade-in, that he would trade it in for cash, and he got £30 for it.

Also have two bags of fabric (old clothes) to take up to the recycle shop so that should be another fiver towards the holiday/tyre fund.

I know I shouldn't, but :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Just a quick update to say the Very catalogue account is now paid off (hooray).

The tyre has now been replaced at £68 which is a lot to pay out unbudgeted but it was a 19" tyre, and Kwik fit advertised on their website for the same size at £100 or £165.

Just checked internet banking for the first time in a week. Pay day is 11 days away and I have £214.32 which sounds quite a lot but my budget would ideally look like this:
    Petrol: 56.67
    Groceries: £120
bus fares / activities etc: £36
    DH cigs: £64.02 minimum

So as you can see that means I have overspent already!! However thanks to my large freezer shop last week, there is no way I will have to spend £120 on groceries but I'm not sure I can go a whole 11 days without spending a penny on anything other than what is budgeted up there ^^ however I do still have the £60 newspaper bill money in a jar, and £78 in the bank but I will do my best not to break into them.

  • Weekly spending diary post (a day late, whoops) but not too bad to say that the tyre and the dentists were unexpected.

    £68.00 - Tyre for car
    £53.19 - groceries
    £35.97 - DH
    £17.45 - DH dentist
    £12.00 - my spends
£5.97 - Household items (new broom, quiche tin)
£3.60 - Bus - I had to get bus to work when DH had a flat
    £2.00 - DS2
    £0.79 - non-food items from groceries budget.

My spends were: £5 on a keyring, £4 on lunch tickets and £3 on something that I can't remember on Saturday...I really need to start noting down what my personal spends are as my memory is terrible.

My first full month of spending diary is up on Wednesday 18th, so I will do a full analysis then #anorak

£5 on a keyring? Jings! Are there no poundshops near you? ;)

    Could the £3 be booze-related?

Just to say though, you're doing a lot better than I've known you to do in the past, well done :T
  • £5 on a keyring? Jings! Are there no poundshops near you? ;)I have to be careful what I say here, but it was a handcrafted keyring made by a relative who has set their own crafting business up so I felt obliged to buy it, and I figured a keyring was more useful than jewellery however the item in question was very 'fragile' and is now broken...next time I shall just make a polite excuse

    Could the £3 be booze-related?

Nope, I have not had a drink all week. It's killing me trying to remember what it could be. It's not a magazine, it's not a kindle book, and it's not alcohol - WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLY BE???

Just to say though, you're doing a lot better than I've known you to do in the past, well done :T

Thanks *puffs chest out proudly*

Ciggies for Mr Fairy? Some kind of child-based expense? Music downloads?

Woo to supporting crafty businesses! Boo to it costing you a fiver for fragile items.

It suddenly struck me yesterday that the £3 that I couldn't account for the previous Saturday was a bet on the Grand National.

Well 2 more working days to pay-day and I'm down to my last £32 (although £20 of that is a cheque that is still to clear, and really should go into the holiday fund).

DH has 2 work-related trips to go on before pay-day for which he will need a full tank of petrol (boo) so the holiday money will have to pay for that although he will get it back the next day directly into the bank.

    This week's spends

£40.01 - petrol (DH, including £20.01 was work related and we got expenses back for)
    £33.50 - groceries
    £27.70 - DH cash
    £8.06 - DS1 and I went to McDonalds yesterday
    £5.50 - DS2 (football practice x 2)
£4.00 - my personal spends (lunch tickets)
    £1.00 - charity donation (to DS2's school)
