I just updated my Netgear DG834G router which had v 1.03.00
But now its not working a green light flashes on it and the tick is an orange colour - both flash on and off.
I got the update off the netgear site for my model and selected the uk option
Any ideas as to how I can get it working again ?

See here http://www.mikesel.info/repair-a-netgear-dg834pn/ (DG834G recovery utility here http://support.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/263) But obviously use the firmware for the correct version of the DG834G that you have, see here http://support.netgear.com/app/products/family/a_id/1288 and be sure to do all this connected via ethernet cable NOT wireless, hope that helps? Which version No DG834G is it?0

Been a while since I've "Unbricked" a Netgear router, but if I remember correctly it could only (or was best) done from a machine running XP for some reason, good luck!
Oh by the way use Internet Explorer to log in to the router's interface too, NOT Firefox or any other browser (recommended to use IE for firmware updates by Netgear).0 -

Yeah trying to link to the router via ethernet cable to no avail power n adsl link still flashing. I don't have xp
Oh I was in opera when I did the update
Now I can't get in tried on my phone but not joy there either ! Gutted I thought the update would make better !"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
somerset's spot-on, on any router fw updates should only ever be done via ethernet and IE, and whilst disconnected from the phone socket. Also, the netgears can be recovered from XP or linux, I believe (but I've never been a linux buff)......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
If the power light is green and flashes on/off and you have an orange tick flashing on/off
then the router is ready for/ should accept a firmware update. If you can download the recovery utility and firmware to a USB stick, and follow the instructions in the links I gave in my first post, then using an ethernet cable and an XP machine (a friend's/ relative's?), you should be able to get it going again. But bear in mind you will then have to enter your ISP details, username, p/w etc....Good luck.

Yes thats exactly what it was doing. I got an old XP laptop up and running and you were right that was the only one that would allow anything to be done. So thank you so much I have now managed to get the router up and running as normal again..Phew"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

Well all seemed well last night but awoke to problems today. Says connected to my wireless lan full reception(fully green icon) but no actual connection on laptop. Tried using the ethernet cable and re instaled the img file but didn't seem to make any difference. I re entered and applied my internet username n password. This time the ADSL light is flashing orange. No flashing between the ttick and power light this time
