screen badly scratched, is it coverd by insurance

i have a mobile fone insurance policy provided by my bank... just want to know if my phone screen's badly scratched, can i claim from insurance? or is there a cheaper way to fix it, cheaper than 25 pounds excess, thanks

    The answer is in your Key Facts document, or the terms of your insurance policy. As the scratch would be caused by misuse or mishandling, unless this was explicitly covered, the answer is probably 'No'.

    Even if they agreed, your phone would be replaced with a refurbished one, not repaired. Some phone reparers will fit a replacement screen for £25 as a one off charge, so that might be the better way to go.

    Then buy a screen protector!

    Could depend on the circumstances. I dropped my phone on gravel a few years back, the screen got heavily scratched. CPW's policy classified this under accidental damage and covered it. However, wear and tear is generally not covered so I would check your policy wording.

  • Badly scrached my Samson Tocco Lite screen. Local shop wanted £35 to replace it! Sourced one from Ebay for £6.80 and fitted it myself in about half an hour. £28.20 saving is definitely money saving!!
