Vodafone CS and 'poaching' deal

Hi
I got called today by Vodafone (was previous customer) and they offered me a deal I don't think I can refuse. I'm posting this because:
1. I know people appreciate it if you share what deals can be bartered (so they can ask for similar/same)
2. I wanted to know what VF CS was like before I make a final decision to jump ship.
I have been a disgruntled customer of Orange for the last 2 years. I upgraded to an IPhone, and in 1.5 years I'm on my third as the stupid thing keeps crashing. Each time Orange have fobbed me off with sending me to the Apple store etc etc, not calling back at all when they have promised a callback, useless call handlers, you know the story. It's always the same, 'new' phone given by Apple store with 60 day warranty...phone plays up, Apple blame Orange and tell me to contact them, Orange blame Apple and tell me to go to them. I hate the damn phone and am sick of the CS tennis.
So I got a call today from Vfone. There's nothing like a hacked off customer from a rival co to get a guaranteed sale. They offered me:
HTC phone (Incredible S I think)
£31 a month for 900 mins, unlimited texts, (quote) "lots of data" (I won't use that many minutes or data anyway) - my current tarriff is about £35+ per month, PLUS half price for first 3 months making it £15.50
Chance to resell phone back to them after 12 months if I want to change
Upgrade after 18 months
Total contract 24 months (I'm on a 24 month at mo so no issues there).
IN ADDITION they're offering me £150 to buy my way out of my Orange contract (need to check how many months I have but I'm sure it's about 6). And the phone is unlocked too so I can use any other SIM if needed :T
So, that's the sharing of the deal, which is a v good one :T in my opinion.
However, I don't want to jump from frying pan into fire with the CS issues.
What's the general consensus with CS on Vodafone? And regards the HTC, I primarily surf the web, download emails and prat about on daft apps...nothing high end technically i.e. I don't watch Iplayer etc lol - the Incredible S was recommende but would I be better with another model?

Get it in writing before you go ahead, this sounds far too good to be true (namely the part about upgrading early and then buying your phone off you after 12 months).Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).

I am pretty sure it was not Vodafone. Only dealers normally offer to buy out.melanieconway wrote: »So I got a call today from Vfone. ...

If it really was Vodafone they are known not to deliver what they offer over a phone and unless you record the call you cannot prove anything.0 -

They may not deliver...however it definitely was Vodafone as I called back the 0800 number the call came through on and the intro was definitely for Vodafone customer service.0 -
I don't see any 0800 number on the Vodafone website: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/contact-us/contact-us/index.htm
I wouldn't be surprised if it was some fake.0 -

I would second this advice. Take anything you are told by vodafone telesales people with a bucket of salt.0 -
I would advise getting it in writing. I asked for it in writing when they offered me a good deal and there was no bother in them doing so. I got an email and later a text.
The 12 month trade up is a new one on me and the upgrade after 18 months will mean a 48 month contract if you take up their offer.
If they won't put it in writing, then it ain't going to happen.0 -
1 - vodafone customer service are shocking! Read some of the posts on here and you will see there are far more disgruntled vf customers than other networks.
2 - "lots of data" is probably 500Mb, no where near enough on android for what you say you use the phone for. Check the actual limit,1Gb would do but preferably more.
3 - Is this really a great deal? If you dont use alot of minutes then why pay £31 on a 24 month contract = £744 (minus £150 to buy out orange contract = ~£600) Really doesnt seem that great to me. They say they will but the phone back after 12 months, for how much? £50?
4 - After suffering vf for 18 months you will not be looking to upgrade early, you will be looking for your PAC code.
5 - As was mentioned this is likely a scam, They can easily set up a recorded message saying they are vodafone when you call back.0 -
I have 500mb on my bb, seems fine for me but Im not a heavy user. Only once had a problem with voda and thats when my number was porting over and it stopped my bb service, quick call and it was sorted. Not had any other issue.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
