Hi guys - another £3.50 saved by eating in happy hour.... Not counting but since doing this challenge have motivated myself to save car parking money - and have saved between £9 and £15 a week so really pleased with that.

Lolly101 - I managed to buy something from Mr S toy sale on line and will collect it tomorrow (cutting down on p & p).
Delighted, managed to buy a windmill house for my Niece at half price so she has a lovely C*mas pressie! And all for what I would normally pay:)
Not counting this as making money as it was reduced to the price I would normally spend on her.

Ooh thanks, I didn't know you could collect instore! :D Will have a look now!
Just wanted to say hi - stumbled across this thread last week and am planning to join you for the first time in November. Have been getting prepared by having a huge wardrobe clearout and am preparing to get the old Ebay sales going.

Lolly re: the sainsburys sale. I went this morning and managed to get a fair few bits. I think it is on for 7 days, but there is some speculation it is on for 2 weeks. They do keep getting deliveries and restocking so it is worth regularly calling in. Some go crazy on the first day of the sale and the shelves often get stripped - but then you will find a lot of folk returning items over the next few days when they get home and realise that they don't need it all. I generally find it better for presents at the 15.00 and under mark. Picked up some Cars 2 lego sets, HM forces figures. moshi monster stuff and some games. More popular stuff like larger lego sets, dancing mickey mouse etc are going to be harder to find now. You never know though!

    Hi Bluecow :hello:
Thanks for the info! I made it in today although was at around 1pm so lots of empty shelves - they were restocking the whole time, although it looked like they were fighting a losing battle :rotfl:
I saw a dancing Mickey (only one left!) and did wonder if they might be good for ebay in a few weeks as I've heard that they are quite 'in demand'. Will have to have a look into it as I'm a bit out of the loop with the 'must have' toys this year. Usually quite good with it and make a fair few quid for Xmas so will have to get my act together!

Bought about £100 worth of toys along with my weekly shop, and have almost finished my Xmas shopping now. :D Saved a lot of money through Boots and Sainsburys this week, although nothing I can really add to the challenge as I would always look for bargains anyway. I did get about £26 of Boots points, and £3 ish of Nectar points (had a triple points voucher :T), so I guess that they can be counted next month when I use them.
  • Feeling very depressed this evening. Just got back from Mr T's and i spent £102 on food!! :o In my defence, i haven't done any food shopping (apart from bread/milk ect) for 5 weeks. And i'm determined to make this shopping for 5 of us last for 4 weeks.... do you think its possible??

Anyway, saved £3 off a £30 spend voucher. So thats another £3 in the pot. Already reached my target but its a nice little bonus...just signed up for £15 a day next month so need to seriously makes some money, do some surveys and play lots of "roadkill" with the kids, :rotfl:

  • For those of you that sell on eBay:

"On 29 and 30 October 2011, private sellers will not pay an insertion fee when they list up to 100 item(s) at a starting price of £1.00 or more in an eligible category using the auction format on eBay.co.uk."

Sounds good to me, putting up items now on eBay for sale in November!

also 5people how old? we 5 but 2year old dont eat much and baby on purees.
we do get through 4pints milk a day and probably least 2-3loaves of bread a week so milk and bread alone is £40 for 5weeks.
    plus hubby/eldest take packed lunches.
does that include toilitries and household.
I suggest you cross over to old style start a post how do i make this last 5weeks?
they can make suggestions but you will probably need to ration and advise you write a meal plan for next 5weeks so you know what you doing.

    Hi Gaily

Thanks for the advice. I do read the old style forum quite a bit, just don't post much there. More of a lurker (but i do give thanks, lol). Milk/bread and eggs are the main things i top up on weekly. 8 pints a day in this house

That didn't include any toiletries or cleaning products. I've had a stockpile for MONTHS now and still probably got enough to keep us going until after christmas (shameful i know but i'm learning not to bulk buy as much, lol).

I went nearly 5 weeks without shopping until this weekend and i had less in that what i bought today so i don't think it will be too much of a problem.

I get my veg from the garden. Got loads blanched and frozen so i have no extra veg to buy. Fruit comes from my parents as they insist on buying me it from a fruit wagon that goes too their house. They will never take money for it so i don't need to worry about that either. I've become an expert in cooking foods from scratch, mainly because my daughter had to be fed through an NG tube for a year and was only allowed to eat veg, so i got into the habbit of cooking food from scratch so she felt like she was eating the same (well, nearly the same) as everyone else. She has had the tube out for 18 months now but i still cook everything from scratch (nearly always anyway, lol) even though she has no restrictions to her diet at all now. I soon learnt that it was MUCH cheaper to cook food from scratch than it was to make stuff like fish fingers or pizza and much better health benefits too! :D

My kids are 4, 9 and 11. DH doesn't eat dinner at work (he never has). He would rather have a large tea when he gets in.

I think thats answers all the questions?? :o

Oh my.... just realised i have rambled on!! Sorry if i have bored anyone! :rotfl:
