No, I don;t know how much for the kitchen, don't even know where we're buying it from yet, but I definitely know what you mean about things cost more than you think they will!

Just listed 25 things on eBay, one already has a watcher! Think I can find a few more things but need to stop now to do more prep for tonight.

    Evening all :)

Feeling good! We are remortgaging! :j :j although because it is someone we've banked with before we have to wait a couple of days for them to update their record for the manwife before they can do the application :( but fingers crossed! :D

We've also made good progress on the home stuffs:
    bathroom fittings: £625.44 (+cashback)
    wardrobes for girls: £338.64 (+cashback)
    toy storage/shelving for boy: £92
    bookshelves: £119
new hoover: £249.99 ( damn hoover fell apart just before Christmas - never buying a vax hoover again, it's been nothing but trouble!)
    rug/door curtain/cushion covers: £167.14 (+cashback)
flooring for bathroom & hall: estimating about £160-180
    tiles/adhesive/grout/plasterboard/paint: unknown as yet
little somethings for me and him: £52.45 (because we don't often spend on ourselves)
telescope: £39.99 (alright, yes, I know, not necessary, but frankly at 1/3rd of the normal price it's an absolute steal and the kids love looking at the stars so it'll be well loved :) they all leapt up and down with excitement when I suggested it)

Total is a bit over £1850 so far, which means about £1k left. The flooring is waiting until Feb, as is a fence for the front, which was the only other thing we were really wanting at this stage. So, I'm putting £1k into an instant access saver along with last years instant access savings to sit for the moment.

Just done my monthly shop to be delivered on Thursday evening and for the first time in months it's come in under my £180 budget! :D

We've agreed to have a low spending month. Apart from a few purchases we already have planned we want to just have the basics of petrol and food. The spending has been rather silly recently. Looking forward to getting back on track with the money-savviness. All encouragement welcome! ;)

One of the first things we checked was how the OPs worked! :rotfl: there is a £500pcm cap, but I'm ok with that cuz we won't even get close to that at first. They will give us account details to add as a payee and we can do dribs and drabs whenever we want, or ring for the DD changing for that month if we wanted, and we can choose if it comes off the term or the future amounts. Exactly what we wanted! Tiny "tidy-up" OPs here I come! :D

On another note, the car share has ended. Basically the guy is unreliable and a bit of an !!!!. Having only been late for work a handful of times in over 3.5 years, manwife was being late for work 1-2 times per week because the guy was showing up late to collect him, and doesn't seem to understand how to progress properly up a motorway. Manwife has actually been really short tempered and grumpy recently because of it. Luckily his boss is a good guy and understood that it wasn't his fault. Anyway, he's now reached the end of his tether with it and is using the bike again. Not ideal, at all, but needs must.

Going to do a new SOA once we've remortgaged.

Must confess, I had a bit of a slump. Probably obvious to those who read often, lol, but I didn't realise how bad it was. I'm feeling better... :) long may it last.
