Most banks have basic accounts that don't need good credit - think they still check for ID purposes but that's it. natwest, co-operative and RBS spring to mind.Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

I think most banks conduct a credit search for basic accounts these days - those who fail the credit search are offered the basic accounts - those who pass get a choice of accounts that can be opened. Most banks have basic accounts that don't need good credit - think they still check for ID purposes but that's it. natwest, co-operative and RBS spring to mind.0 -

You can still be declined for all of these for a variety of reasons.
Bankruptcy, a history of fraud, unpaid debts within the same company are obvious ones.0 -
I had really bad credit and I opended a Natwest step account. Basically you can't have an overdraft, cheque book etc but over time and if you manage your account well you should be able to upgrade it.0
