Orange PAYG & Call Divert

Hi,

I bought my wife a new Nokia 6131 for Xmas and she has had a nightmare with Orange.

Problem: Phone only rings three times and by the time it is retreived from handbag it has stopped, diverted to mail box.

After about six calls to Bangladesh and hours on hold she now has it switched to continuous ringing and no mail box.

The Cal Divert setting is not on the phone, so that she can set the phone to 8-10 rings then divert to mailbox. If I put my 02 simcard in her phone the Call Divert option is there and no problems, so nothing wrong with the phone.

She has had conflicting stories from different call operators whether or not the call divert setting option is available on PAYG. Call Divert was obviously available and in place, with three short rings, before Orange changed the card to continuous ringing and chopped out the answer phone.

Can anyone advise?

Axel

On my phone which is sim free, (benq siemens mia), the voicemail icon is not available on orange network, this is because orange don't supply the benq siemens mia on their network and therefore don't support certain functions.
Could be something similar on yours?

I had a similar problem on a contract phone from Orange 2 years ago. Called 150 and got it sorted. I had to type some long code into the phone, and they did stuff at their end. All sorted. This was a Sony Ericson, not sure about Nokia's I think this is all handled by the carrier these days. If it works on your O2 sim then it must be Orange.

I called Orange CS on 150 yesterday (disconnections) it was a UK call centre.

Orange disable some of the call divert menu's when using their sim cards as they don't support call divert (on payg).

Everything done relating to voicemail will need to be done at their side of things. They should be able to change the number of rings before it diverts, but it would depend on their system setup.

    Good luck with Bangalore :o

Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for the replies here, I was going to ask the exact same question. Initially, I was going to play around with the divert settings on the phone, it has options to specify the delay before the divert, but if I can get it done through Orange I'll sort it when they open shortly. Thanks again.

Hi, the code for changing the time before divert if call unanswered on Orange is:

    **61*07973100123**11*30#

Phone will either connect immediately, if not hit 'send' or 'call'. You'll get a message on screen saying 'requesting' and the phone should beep audibly to let you know the request was successful. Test and enjoy.

Obviously replace the mobile number there with your own mailbox number, the 30 at the end is the maximum time before call is diverted, change this as appropriate, the 11 is for the line, change if you are using a 2nd line.

    Hope this helps.

  • When I set the divert on my phone I used *61 rather than **61, but checking, these do slightly different things. There used to be a great site explaining all of the codes, which I have not managed to find yet, but this explains some of it. http://martinri.freeshell.org/gsm-access-codes.html

You can find more details by doing a Google search for "divert on no answer" delay gsm

Hi, I know what you mean, but I called orange again and they said it's two stars at the front, with each further parameter separated by ONE star.

Then again, they did not have specific codes for themore advanced Nokias, they gave me the code for the N70 and said it may work on my more advanced phone, however I would have thought in this matter the codes would be generic.

That looks like a good one. I think that the one I was thinking of was on Andrews&Arnolds website (http://aa.nu) back in the days when they used to sell Orange phones. However, that seems to be long gone.

The divert is performed by the network rather than the phone, so the codes are the same no matter what phone you use.
