Will suppliers allow swaps of different manufacturers cylinders?

Afternoon all.

I'm wanting to get hold of a couple of 19kg propane cylinders for a heater. I've found a cheap looking local supplier but was hoping to avoid the cylinder rental charge.

Our local recyling centre will sell me a couple of cylinders for a fiver each but they are different brands to the supplier I was going to use.

Is it likely they will accept them or does it depend on each company?

Cheers

  • Only Calor and perhaps Flogas depending on what mood they're in charge deposits afaik. Your recycling centre have no business charging you for empty cylinders, they are not theirs to sell and in fact always belong to the distributing company.
BTW propane cant be stored/used indoors, you're meant to use butane on any kind of portable heater.
