Mmm vuvuzela are you sure your modem has disconnected and reconnected many times in fact, or are you only talking about your connection to the modem? Even switching the modem off and then on again doesn't necessarily disconnect it at the other end unless you unplug and replug it back in to the mains.

Was wondering why I could not see this picture button, it is because I, (and probably others) am using the "old look" Forum Skin because I prefer it, so for the record this picture is not available on the "old look" skin.

Yep, it has been unplugged (or powered down for a number of days) several times in the last year and a half. IP has been the same for that period.

I'm on Virgin too, and it's really hard to get a new ip address, even though it is technically a dynamic ip. It's not like before when I had ADSL where it just took a reboot of the router to be allocated a new ip address - with cable broadband the allocation tends to be a lot stickier, I've had to leave my router switched off for over 48 hours in order to change ips, and even then it's not guaranteed.
