From their point of view though £2-300 to spend on a camera is a lot of money.
I know that if it doesn't work then you can put in a claim etc, but that all takes time & if it's something that's wanted quickly they would want to make sure there are no issues with it.
At least your location shows as more specific than UK.
They could open another account if you block them, but they may not know they can do it.
Are your buyer requirements set up tight?0 -
These are my buyer requirements.
Block buyers who:- Have received 2 unpaid item(s) recorded on their account within 1 month(s)
- Have a primary delivery address in countries that I don't post to
- Have 4 breach of policy report(s) within 1 month(s)
- Have a Feedback score equal to or lower than -1
- Have a Feedback score of 2 or lower and no credit card on file
- Have bid on or bought my items in the last 10 days and have met my limit of 5 who have a feedback score of 2 or lower
Could they be any better?I Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
I would replay with a no sorry I can't do that, do you have any particular concerns as I can double check and take more pictures of the item if needed.
I would then just hope they push the bidding up but don't actually win.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I had someone asking me yesterday, despite me saying I do not offer a Collection In Person option, on the listing itself.
I told them I was sorry but I couldn't agree to a Collection In Person as I am away a lot with work (not true), and they still didn't get the hint so I was polite but more firm when I replied again. This buyer had hundreds of feedbacks too, so wasn't a newbie. Thankfully, someone else won the auction in question...0 -

Other than the 2 highlighted then no better, have you said that the camera will be sent special delivery, so that would be scammers will know that you have proof of delivery?0 -
Yes, I have stated Special delivery in the listing.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

I think you should reconsider.
If a buyer is thinking of spending £200-300 and is prepared to come all the way to you from London (at their cost), they are probably very serious about your item and are unlikely to mess you around. If I was spending that amount of money I would do a lot of homework - I might not risk a secondhand purchase on eBay, but I think you are being very short-sighted in thinking it's a scam. A scam is where they buy your item, send you a fake email, and insist you post the item to Nigeria.
They might also have relatives/colleagues in that area or be going there regularly on business.
You may even get a sale on sight and be able to get cash out of him. It also solves issues where the buyer might find a fault after purchase if you let them fully inspect it, and protects against damage in the post.
If you want that sort of money for an item, you have to be prepared to allow buyers to inspect it. Buying a secondhand item is doubly risky because you don't know what sort of use/abuse it's had. I'd want some guarantee myself, and some comeback - it's probably more likely I'd buy it with a card from a shop because I know I have some comeback through insurance, guarantee, etc. - but if they are prepared to take a chance on you, I would be happy to take it myself.
Being flexible usually gets you a better price than being scared of what might happen. You've got to take buyers into consideration here - if you're trying to get a good price, especially on a venue like eBay, you've got to be prepared for buyers who are doing their homework before being sold a pup.
I'd agree, it's too far to come for a £5 dress. But a £300 camera? I'm not so sure. I'd be flattered and jump at them, particularly if they wanted to pay me cash for it."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I must agree. Why does everyone think it's off the wall to ask for a look at an expensive item? By all means refuse - it's your choice, but hardly a "numpty" question.0

Someone emailed me asking to look at Nintendo DC i was selling, I said it was no problem (if they won) , they turned up and had a quick look and left happy.
Just make sure someone is there with you if you are worried.
Or, just email and tell them you live alone and with all due respect, you don't want a stranger in your home.
If they get the hump with that, then you have dodged it well ! lol0 -
I'm not too worried it's a scam, just that I'm uncomfortable with someone coming to my home, or meeting me somewhere.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0
