Firstly let me say that Morrisons ( and 'Employee hopefully will confirm) NEVER SCAN COUPONS.
I redeem the odd few in 3 Morrisons stores and NEVER has a SA scanned the barcode.
It's ALWAYS a manual input of its value with a specific button press on the till to "engage discount mode"
Even with the advent of Self-Scan my recent experience is that the SA that has to attend in this situation still inputs the value and they never scan it - ALMOST as if their system does not scan or process the "99 barcode" of a standard money-off coupon
This applies to £5 off £20 spend types from newspapers and elsewhere, those issued by manufacturers offering 10p off a tin of beans, luncheon vouchers & similar, or even Morrison's own gift vouchers. (Like those £25 ones issued for the £40 spends for 5 or 6 weeks just before Xmas)
The new till system does scan coupons/vouchers. Operators should only key in the amount if the voucher doesn't scan, or if the store is still using the old system (not sure if there are or how many there is).
Self scan's also scan coupons now too.
Not sure if the £10 voucher was scanning however, as I didn't use one/process one but I do know that the newspaper barcodes sometimes tend to be temperamental!0 -

Thanks for this - obviously the three I occasionally use - one of them much more than the other 2 - must have the old system.
They've all been in existence for 20 years or more, (AND look and feel like it) and I'm sure the tills haven't changed in donkey's years either.
My nearest store only had the self scan tills added a few months back and they are a right pain to use (at least in comparison to ASDA's that I use all the time) so I usually tend to avoid them.
I redeemed some "Free item" 60p off (FULL PRICE) coupons with perfectly crisp & clearly printed 99 barcodes of the correct 60p value, against the correct item which was 60p, earlier this month and encountered manual input at 4 different tills, including the kiosk and a self scan.
As for this particular £10 MOC from the Sunday Mirror, it CANNOT have scanned for £10 for TWO reasons
Firstly as pointed out by 3010, the last 3 digits are 3008 - the 300 occupying the value field, so they would scan at £3 - something many were finding out at Tesco.
Secondly as I stated earlier, the value field is ONLY 3 DIGITS - maximum value is 999 so £9.99
MOC's over £9.99 should have this value field containing 000 which forces a manual input of the amount

I was in my local Morrisons yesterday and the supervisor was going round the tills telling every cashier that you had to manually put the Mirror voucher through at £10.00 as it was scanning at £3.00.0

Still no grabbit here
Please would you dismount the high horse? If there is no grabbit (I believe my title is not misleading but very clear) why did you even look here unless it is just to post a very ignorant comment and ultimately bump up the thread. It certainly is a grabbit for those who have been shortchanged £7 and need to grabbit quickly by returning to CS pronto. Phew! Sorry to be a little terse but if you bother to read the thread, several folk have already left a similar 'helpful' comment to which I have already replied to. Sheesh!
To update those who asked me to keep em updated as to what 08005055555 said, basically I was told to return with the receipt to CS and I was given a case number, the guys first name and Id reference to quote upon my return.:money::A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Just back from Morrisons and my voucher scanned at £3.00 so the SA scanned it 3 times and gave me an extra pound change :-)0

Thanks for highlighting this OP as I plan to use my voucher later this week so I will make sure I point the error to the SA when it is scanned. My mantra is "Never pay full price!"0

I had trouble with this coupon yesterday as well and the CS instore refused to do anything about it as it was a competitors coupon and they claimed that they could not over-ride it. I phoned CS HO this morning and they are sending me a £7 giftcard - so I'm pleased with the outcome. Hope this helps anyone else in the same boat!0

Called CS this morning after it scanned at 3.00 yesterdays in TESCOS and CS instore refused to do anything about it. Even telling me that under no circumstances do they take other stores coupons so i was 'LUCKY' to even get the 3.00! Cheeky shiatess..
CS 0800 number also refused to do anything about it, Apparently they only recoup their money using the coupon and the last few digits on the coupon are 300 which is making it scan at 3.00! So apparently morrisons issue to fix!
