Very low mileage cars

In my search for a new car I've come across two that have very low mileage. Both around 5k miles. One is a two year old petrol model and the other a three year old diesel. Wondering if either would be a good buy or should be avoided.
Thanks

    Extremely low mileage car

As it happens, I didn't go for that car - I went for a one year old Corsa with 2,500 miles on the clock in the end.

Which cars are they and what prices are they up for? In general, diesel = better fuel economy and residual value, but you tend to pay a premium that doesnt always make sense unless you do chunky mileage..

  • I wouldnt pay the premium for a low mileage car, My budget is £2500 max. I would rather have an ex repmobile thats done
london to scotland every day than a ex mobility car thats been bumped and scraped every time its been out on its 200yard
journey to the shop and back.

Often deliberate, to catch your attention, once you have travelled to see it, they hope you will forget about the fact that really it's 105k!

Three year old diesels with essentially no miles are entering the danger zone.

These engines need to be driven, and do not like short runs one little bit. I would run away from one to be honest.

Either it's been sat around (bad) or it's done 3000 2-mile journeys (bad).
