Hi all,
I hope someone can give me some advice on some problems we are having with SW water.
In a nutshell we have been in arrears and so pay £27 weekly which also covers this years rates. We pay using paypoint slips.
All was fine and we paid religiously until August when in the final month of my maternity leave money was just too tight and we missed 4 consecutive payments.
We then recieved a letter from BCW solictiors telling us that we were in arrears and if we paid the arrears our account would return in the normal way with SW water. By this point I had been paid so went straight online to BCW website and paid £120 to cover the arrears.
We then continue using our slips to pay weekly.
About a week after I had paid online I recieve another letter from BCW which makes no reference to the payment - the amount showing as owed had not taken any of our payments into account - this letter said as we had ignored the previous request we were now going to have legal action taken against us.
I emailed SW water and asked what the hell was going on and explaining about payment, maternity leave etc and have been ignored completely!
Yesterday I get another letter from BSC saying that as we clearly have no intention to pay they are proceding with court action. This letter had adjusted the total owing to include the arrears we had paid but since then we've paid every week so we are paying!
What can I do now - I don't want to go to court, we have done exactly what was asked of us, SW water are ignoring us and BCS continue to send threatening letters.
Does anyone know what we can do next??

You might get better advice if you cut and paste this into the 'Debt free wannabe' forum on MSE as they deal with Debt Collection Agencies a lot.0

First off...how did you pay it ? If you used a card then can you not get the statement to show the payment ? If you used paypal or something like that then there should also be a record.
Get that and then go back to them, they are not going to do anything until you can show you paid as right now all they have is your word.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.
