Tesco Mobile - payment upfront?

Hiya, I just looked at the tesco mobiles website and tried a mock-application for a phone to see when they credit check and what details they ask for - I've got quite poor credit so have been declined by a couple of the networks in the past.

Anyway, I got to the second-to-last page of the application and they asked for the first month's fee up front, the final page was the 'confirmation' page which I didn't get to as I'm hesitant to pay just yet...

Has anyone got any experience of applying to tesco mobile? If you pay the first month upfront and then fail the credit check, how long before they return your money - is it the usual '7-10 working days'?

Ta :)

I am just guessing, but I'd be surprised if they debited your card before performing the credit check.

I'd be surprised if they didn't. Refunds are easy to do and asking for a deposit is quite common, and non-binding.

They asked me for the first month upfront with my SIM only contract and they actually physically debited my card before it went through.

With mobile contracts the monthly is paid in advance and excess charges in arrears.
