  • Hello,
I would like to buy 10 or more large terracotta pots to replace the plastic ones holding my shrubs/trees at the moment. After having a look online, I see they are quite expensive! Does any one have any recommendations for web links or plant centres where I could buy some at under £30 per pot that look nice?

    Thank you.

Sorry, don't have a link for terracotta pots but are you living in an area that gets very cold in winter and is subject to a lot of frost. Terracotta pots can be rather prone to cracking in frost so if GUI have paid a lot of money foe them that could end up being a disappointment. Best to check about their frost resistance before you buy

    Hello all gardeners
I am sad to find all my (usually very strong growing) japanese anemones going black on leaves and stems and completely dying back!
This could be due to excess watering of nearby hydrangeas during the very dry weather I suspect. Maybe a fungal problem.
Anyway I've cleared them them out and destroyed them.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello all. I had no idea this existed or I would have popped my head round the door sooner!

Does anyone have experience of container gardening? I have a greenhouse and temporary raised beds for veg, but no flower beds. I have a good few 6"-12" plastic pots that I could use to create some colour on the patio. We rent and aren't allowed to have beds, so anything that isn't on the gravel near the bottom of the lawn next to the greenhouse, has to be on the patio.

I've tried looking online to see plants that do well in containers, but so much of it is American and I'm pretty sure Essex doesn't have the same climate as California! so far, it seems Buddleja, Dahlia and Lavender does well (I already have two pots of lavender so I have that covered!), any other ideas? Also, I have no creativity in me at all so suggestions for how to group them and display the plants would be appreciated!

Been in Wilko today and they are selling a huge amount of veggie seeds off for 10p a pack. I picked up all my seeds for next springs sowing - about £30 worth - all to be sown before 2017....but as we know as long as you keep it cool - they don't have a date.
Cost me £1.90 for 19 packets including dwarf beans sprouts parnsips calabrese etc...
Also their £1.50 mod trays all sizes - down to 20p per pack of 3 trays - I honest to god couldn't believe it. Going fast though - so get down asap.

What is money saving this week while being greenfingered?

I bought some rooting compound and decided to make new plants with it this week to improve our hedge.

Are there ant bargains out there this week?
