We had a NSD today and a veggie day. I made potato cakes for my breakfast with the leftover mash and also had baked beans with it. For tea I made 2 lots of curry-a spicy and a mild making it with kidney beans. Including the rice it worked out at about 30p per portion-unbelievable!
Weighed out my rice again-80g of dry rice per portion and it was perfect for adult servings. Used up some naan bread from the freezer as an extra(not costed). Had a cleanup of the freezer today and find Ive got 4 chickens but some portions so I have to resist it for a month or so.
Tried one of my Aprroved Foods polish desets tonight-the strawberries ones they sell realy cheap. They are different! Like a thick hot jelly is how ~I will describe them but it is nice poured over stewed fruit then topped with a little custard. Well it has to be nice as Ive got 25 packs this time not realising its the same stuff I bought last time so Ive got about 40 packets altogether! Filled up with fuel today and was horrified that even tho my little car wasnt on empty it took £31 worth!:eek::eek::eek::eek:Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

hex - the tomato thing sounds lovely - I got a load of reduced tomatoes last week in Aldi so I will make that tomorrow or the next day - thanks!
I was going to try for a NSD today but decided to do the shopping for the coming week and hopefully I can stay out of any supermarket until next weekend. I went to Aldi and to Sainsburys and spent £27 in total. Got some 22p pizzas in Aldi and also some 50% off bread which I have frozen, and I also bought a cauliflower as I want to make the cauliflower cheese cottage pie which was on Something for the weekend this morning.
I also got some of the Birds Eye fish fingers from Sainsburys - half price at £1.24 and I used my 75p off coupon so bargain!
I am really worrying about Christmas now as I really don't have hardly any money this year and I just don't know how I am going to buy all that is needed.Jane

Welshwoofer The shop is in old trafford, Ayres rd. My mum has made me promise not to go there again without her as she waited in the car with the kids. The sacks of spuds were £1.98, caulis and cabbages 2 big ones for £1, loads of good offers. I bypassed the meat counter, being veggi, but it all looked to be pretty good. And they had warbies bread in at 99p a loaf. The outside is all set out like a F&V market stall and the inside is cramped but smells lovely. Pretty sure I could get all the food shopping there that I needed to feed us for the week. was a bit gutted I'd already spent up. can't wait for next weeks shop
(p.s. not entirely sure, but i don't think it's much of a walk from the tram stop.
ETA. oh and they had all the big bags of spices too.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Managed a NSD today as really couldn't be bothered to go to the shop! Have to go tomorrow though as I need dog food.To get to Disneyland Florida 20160

Was a bit naughty on Friday and really fancied some chocolate whilst on campus, so that's £1 and one less NSD!
NSD on Saturday, since I went home for the weekend.
Shouldn't have been an NSD today as went shopping for a few bits of food, but my mum was shopping with me and she paid for it! She does like to help out a bit when I'm at uni.
Also, my Dad changed up my saved up stamps for Mr T because I couldn't manage to spend them all at once and my parents spend far more than that in one shop there. I'm still going to try to stick to the £40 budget, but I won't at all be kicking myself if I go over a bit, since that budget had allowed for me using the stamps.
Off to update the sig.Making mistakes is not the end of the world, though it often feels that way!0 -
Argh! got myself into a right tizz because I could not find the receipt from tonights (now yesterday's) Orange shop...
Anyway managed to work out from pending CC transactions that we spent £48.27, I forgot it was a really bad idea to a) take the kids (incl DH!) with me to the supermarket and b) not have a prepared meal plan/shopping list... on the plus side I have 4 weeks worth of DD1's sports juice which means no more strops about the vending machine only having Ribena :rotfl: (although to be fair it was the school hols that made me forget about putting a bottle in the fridge for her... I hate vending machines!)
Another important lesson was not to go to the supermarket when AF is dueanother £17.95 from last week - and all junk
Sig is up to date with totals, a bit dissapointed I feel like I am just going to make it - but I thought I had given myself a generous target... Although it is a long month
Meal plan for this week is now done - I will need a top up shop - whats new?!
Good luck everyone and keep up the good work!0 -
