Thanks for that tip about the posts Trixieb. NSD for me today:j I spent £51 over the weekend on a big shop and have meal planned up until 16th, so should only need to shop for milk, loo rolls and bread until then.
DD2 and I have been off today with cold/cough thing so todays planned meals are a bit different. I had soup for lunch and she had the packed lunch I had made for her last night before I knew she was going to be off.
Tonight she didn't feel like the pork chop dinner I was planning (and TBH I didn't either) so I made her some pancakes with lemon and she enjoyed that. DD1 won't be in until after 7 so I have a couple of chicken thighs marinating in fridge for her - I'll stir fry them with some freezer stir fry veg and some noodles when she gets in.
My microwave broke a few weeks ago and so far I have resisted replacing it, but now I think I really will have to because I seem to have the big oven on all the time! I don't want to spend alot though, as I only use it for heating stuff up and for starting off jacket potatoes and porridge etc. Didn't realise how much I would miss it though!Jane

Sorry for being late Miss/Sir:o
errmm please could you put me down for £225 for this month? Not sure if i will make it as just gone over to monthly pay rather than 4 weekly but can give it a go.
Already had spends from Friday and include
£12.09 - Mr T's(was meant to be cheaper than buying lunch for three, hmmmm)
£59.02:eek: - Mr M's
£14.55 - Wil**'s(was being very organised and have bought all loo paper and toiletries inc ST's for us three girlies for the month.)
yikes thats a grand total of £85.66.
And was very cross with myself as I found a flyer addressed to me this morning half way under door mat from Mr T's with 6 weeks of vouchers and I had missed the £6 off £40 spend as it ran out yesterday! No idea how long its had been there.
Oh well never mind.
Off to update sig.

My microwave broke a couple of months back and I replaced it with a combi microwave oven from Aldi costing £42.99. It has an oven, a grill and a microwave. It is really good and saves a fortune in electric. It makes crispy jacket pots in less than 18 mins and fantastic Yorkshire puddings. I know they were just a seasonal offer thing Aldi does but they do seem to get them in quiet often. I did see some cheap microwaves in asda a few weeks back.

After reading Spiggle's excellent post with advice for the GC I did a stocktake yesterday and I'm shocked with how much stuff I have! I discovered amongst other things 21 unopened bags of various shaped pasta, 20 tins of tomatoes, 18 tins of beans, 16 jars of curry sauce, enough curry ketchup to last over a year (bought on various trips to Europe!), 8 unlabelled boxes of frozen meals I'd made, several joints of meat, 16 beef burgers that I'd frozen, 20 bottles of wine and 88 toilet rolls  (I may have got carried away with these, I found them hidden all over the house).
I now aim to plan all meals around what I have and I really shouldn't have to buy much apart from fresh things.0 -
Risingfromtheashes- do you have an ald! nearby only 79p for milk I've been using there recently0

Thanks Ixia - unfortunately I'm lactose intolerant so can only use Lacto*free......
It's made a huge difference to my general wellbeing and tummy but ...... it's just so expensive.
I'm also wheat intolerant so eat a lot of oat based cereals - which are also more expensive than wheat ones eg 24 x Oatibix = £2.68 but 24 x Weetabix = £1.78 .... so go through a fair bit of milk due to this.
There's nothing I can do about it so will just have to live with it but it's just really frustrating sometimes when you see the supermarkets offering 2 x 4 pints - over 4.5 litres - for £2 (the same amount of Lacto*free would be nearly £6). It adds up to a pretty big difference over a month and year ....
Sorry for the moan everyone:o, will give in and have an early night ..... just one of those frustrating days when you're trying your best to cut down on things and feel like all you're doing is :wall::wall::wall::wall:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
