Recording BBC Radio shows

Having completely failed over several months to get Audacity to record from anything other than the webcam microphone, probably because the audio drivers for my nVidia card are using some form of DRM, I am looking for some other software which will enable me to record BBC radio programmes from my Windows 7 PC (either 'live' or via the radio iPlayer) and subsequently select sections from the full programme, either 'topping and tailing', or a particular part. MP3 output would do.
So I'm looking for a program (or programs) which you use personally and can recommend to do both the recording and later sectioning of a BBC Radio programme (which I'm hearing using Firefox, if that's of any relevance).
Thanks in advance!

"Personally", to download 'listen again' radio shows I use get_iplayer:- http://www.infradead.org/get_iplayer/html/get_iplayer.html
It has options to download them in either m4a or mp3 format.
If I need to edit an mp3 file I use mp3DirectCut:- http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html
A more simple program for Windows users is nerdoftheherd RadioDownloader:- http://www.nerdoftheherd.com/tools/radiodld/Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
+1 for Radio Downloader, I use it to record a lot of shows on 6 Music broadcast in the wee small hours and then listen to the MP3s in the car during the day. Easy to use, reliable and free.0

Using the likes of Get_iPlayer also has the advantage of allowing you to listen to programmes from other regions.0

presumably you've delved into the mixer settings?

This worked perfectly for me. If you've got Audacity there's no need to buy any other software just for recording. Audacity also has a plug in to convert to mp3.0 -

+1 for the recorder http://www.nerdoftheherd.com/tools/radiodld/If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0

I am very pleased for you! But the OP's original post said that it didn't work for him. Hence his question.
Yes, but if the OP doesn't address the mixer issue first, as closed suggested in his/her post, then they may find that the other software that other posters have recommended won't work either. Leaving them no further forward.0
