Recording BBC Radio shows

Having completely failed over several months to get Audacity to record from anything other than the webcam microphone, probably because the audio drivers for my nVidia card are using some form of DRM, I am looking for some other software which will enable me to record BBC radio programmes from my Windows 7 PC (either 'live' or via the radio iPlayer) and subsequently select sections from the full programme, either 'topping and tailing', or a particular part. MP3 output would do.

So I'm looking for a program (or programs) which you use personally and can recommend to do both the recording and later sectioning of a BBC Radio programme (which I'm hearing using Firefox, if that's of any relevance).

Thanks in advance!
