Welcome back Been.I know exectly what you mean about being disheartened, think I will take a leaf and start posting on here a bit more.

Love the idea of the 1%. Unfortunately 1% of my debt is £200 which seems liek a huge amount to find 'extra':(

Still, we will keep plodding on, Been, keep plodding on:)

  • Hi Banwa it's good to see you back, I took a peek at your diary a few days ago, but hadn't posted as I've been a bit under the weather. I was pleased to hear that things had worked out ok for Mr Banwa, that's such a relief for you both :).

DFW321 - it's a really interesting thread, although like Banwa, I've got no chance of actually achieveing 1% of my balance as it's soooo high :o:(, but anything is better than nothing, so I thought I'd pick a number an go for it!

I haven't been very good at keeping track of the money I've made, but aside from the bits I've already posted about, I've also got £7.66 tracked with Qu1dc0 and £5.24 from eb4y sales to add to my figure. I've also found £1.20 while out and about :), so I'll add these to my total for July and see how it looks.

I'm going to pop over to the 'Make £X a Day in August Challenge' and join. I need to make a commitment to doing this although I think it might be quite difficult to keep up, but anything is better than nothing :p.

    Back later...

  • Well I've joined the August Make £10 a day Challenge and am aiming for £5/day to see how I do. I'm not brave enough to go for £10 ;). So far, I've added my surveys income and after this post I have a couple more bits to add from eb4y sales and a 1poll survey. So far, so good :).

    Hi

Well here I am, back on MSE again, although tbh, I've lurked quite often, but not posted.

My post has been triggered by the very poor shape on my ongoing finances :( I had wanted to post on the 'How much have we paid off in 2012' board (I think it's called something like that...), but when I actually looked at the numbers closely, we actually increased our total debt in 2012 :mad::mad::mad:

I'm sooo annoyed, but have tried to think about it rationally. The major expenses all occurred in the latter part of the year and were a totally re-vamped bathroom, the car - we had to make a decision whether to have a major repair costing over £600, or buy another car. We decided to stick with what we know, as we would've need more than £600 to get another decent car, so went ahead with the repair. Unfortunately, the car has since needed further repairs and the total bill since September is around £1100  And then of course, Christmas, which was I'd partly saved for, but it wasn't anywhere near enough.

So here we are, £2000 deeper in the hole than we were a year ago :o.

So, mega belt tightening going on at Been Towers at the moment. An unplanned £175 on the car last week has again wiped out all my spare cash, so food & fuel is all going on the card till payday :(. It's now a case of damage-limitation till then.

I'm going to re-visit a few of my favourite haunts (Weekly spend challenge, 2nd purse and some dfw diaries etc) to get myself back on the wagon...and then off we go again with round 2 ;)

  • Making a good start tonight and have joined the PAD thread, paying 16p :o and the Weekly Spend Challenge with a budget of £16 for incidentals. This money is the only scope I have for PADs this month, so they will be very low, but at least it's something, and it keeps me focused :)

  • Hi Been,

Good to see you back! Don't worry about having a set-back, just think about the better position you are now in because of the choices you made earlier in the year.

Hi Choclover, good to see you too, thanks for popping in :) Your comment cheered me up, I hadn't thought of it like that ;)

  • Well I must've looked like the local cat lady in MrT today :o, I had 10 boxes of cat food, a box of cat biscuits and three bags of cat-lit :o. The cashier commented that at least the cat would be fed :rotfl:. I prefer to get the cat food in bulk, so I suppose it did look strange :p.

Anyways, cat food etc plus some other bits that I can't get in 4ldi came to a whopping £50-odd , and we'll be at 4ldi tomorrow to do the normal weekly shop :o. We'd be so rich if we didn't have to eat .

On the plus side, I found a trolley with the £1 coin still in it and a penny on the floor just by my car, so that cheered me up :p. I'm padding this, as it was completely unexpected.

Other spends (last night) were 3 bars of choccie (£1.20 in total) for me, OH and DS...not good for the diet... :o
