A quick post to update spends before I forget :o.

    Yesterday was a NSD :D.

    Today:

£3.49 - OH lunch (nothing in house to make sarnies )
    0.92 - 2 x 1st class stamps
0.40 - fizzy drink (to SP)
£1.24 - pack of mints and tracker bar
    £1.00 - birthday card
    £5.00 - contribution to b/day pressie
    £12.05 - Total :(

Leaving me with £3.40 to last to Thursday evening.

I'd better plan for a couple of NSDs if I'm going to have any hope of making an extra payment to the target card this week :/.

You've doing extremely well with the payments to your target card. :j

I never seem to have money to make overpayments. :(

I hope the weather has been nice in your area the last few days. :)

Thanks Bonnington, they are only little overpayments, but it's all good, and I love seeing lots of payments on my statement :D.

We did our mealplan yesterday and then headed out to the shops. The budget was £30, but we ended up spending £18 in 4ldi and another £21 in 4sda, so a total of £39 :(. Most of the overspend though was £5 on crisps as 4sda had an offer of walkers 22 packs - 2 packs for £5, which is a great buy. We use the crisps for our packed lunches, so they will all get used. So not bad I guess.

OH has decided that we're getting Sky back . He managed to get a half-price deal which means we get the basic package plus sports for £20/month for 12 months. There was also a £30 installation charge. He's said that he'll pay for this out of his money, so hey-ho, in theory no impact on the budget...we'll see ;). He's given me £22 towards the installation already :).

DD2 has booked her first set of driving lessons - £170 for 10 which I think is a good deal :). This money is already budgeted for, but between this and Sky I felt nervous about the amount of money leaving my account last night :o!

Also, pocket money update - another £1 to DS1 for his club, leaving me with £2.40.....

Hope today is a NSD :o

  • Well, yesterday was a NSD, so managed to hold on to my £2.40 :p, but today I'm out at lunchtime for a coffee with a mate (can't be avoided :o), so that will be most if not all of my cash gone. On the plus side though, I get to top-up again tonight :).

I finally removed my head from the sand and updated the spreadsheet yesterday...there are now 15 days to payday and every penny and more is committed :(. If I can manage to keep the spends to the set limits and a few things run to plan then we will be able to avoid putting ££££s on the CC, but that remains to be seen.

The main areas to watch will be the grocery budget - just £39 left, although the cupboards and freezer are well stocked.

Petrol - £170 left, we'll need to fill up tonight, plus again about the same time next week and maybe a small top-up the week after...

Weekly cash - about £45pw left for 3 thursdays.

There are a couple of un-budgeted items on the horizon though - the cat needs to go to the vet this weekend, I have a leaving do before payday and there are also 2 other social events that may or may not go ahead  we'll have to see what to do about these.

I guess I'll just keep on plodding :p.

Hi Brizzle - thanks for popping in :D. It's lovely when someone reads and posts, especially when they remind me of thoughts I've had but have already forgotten :o. I must remember this one, it's just soooo important for keeping the motivation going!

Well I managed to hang on to my £2.40 yesterday as my lovely friend bought the coffees :D:D. So, being a good MSE-er, I then made an overpayment to the target card of £1.15 - I held a little bit back in case a £1.25-emergency cropped up :rotfl:...luckily it didn't so the rest will go to the target card today :D.

A quick note for me for later...£6 to OH for bus fares and £2.10 to DD2 for dinner card top-up. I need to sort these with the cash budget later. We bought petrol yesterday too, about £70-ish I think, but I'll wait til it hits the bank before updating here.

    It's nearly the weekend...woohoo!

    Well done!

Are you an arty type? Maybe you could make cards? I kow you'd have to buy supplies at first but it might be worth it.

Hi Brizzle...I'm not arty at all so would probably make a right mess of it :o, but thanks for the suggestion :). There are a few people I work with who make cards, and they really are gorgeous (the cards, that is :D). I wish I had the patience! Do you make cards?

Well, Sky has been re-installed today  and in true Beencounting fashion, the tele is switched off as I just find tv really boring :p, no doubt it will be switched on immediately Mr Been returns from his club later today though ;). He was up before 5am this morning and I'm sure it was because the engineer was due :rotfl::rotfl:!

I'm just trying to muster the motivation to enter DD2's bedroom to give it a clean, it's way beyond messy...I think health hazard pretty much sums it up :mad:.

Spends so far today - £3.00 bus fare and £2.00 school trip money, both to DD2. Balance is now £10.70.

    Hi been

Sounds like a good day for you.
I don't actually but reading how much money people on these threads spend on cards I was just wondering whether it made financial sense

    Have a good weekend
