I'm feeling relieved this morning that we will have made it to payday (pay due on Tuesday) without exceeding the overdraft (I hope, I haven't actually logged on to the bank this morning :o), but when I checked yesterday all was ok). DD2s pay will go into my account on Monday, so gives us a buffer until Tuesday...phew!

Like many people it's been a really long month, and the last week especially has been long!

I've already set the budget for February, but need to review and adjust it as we have two outings planned for the middle of the month and I'll need to allow for petrol and some spending money. This is the kind of thing I would've ignored in the past, assuming the money would come out of the magic pot which obviously is filled by the money tree at the bottom of the garden :rotfl:. But not this time, it will be in the budget ;).

The car needs to be taxed on Tuesday, but I've got most of the money for this, but I need to allow for the difference in the budget. Also need to allow for a £30 overspend on DS's mobile . He's been told that if it happens again, he'll have his phone taken away from him.

    Been

:rotfl::rotfl:@ hubby having phone confiscated if he overspends again :rotfl:that's why mine is on PAYG ;)

This month has been THE worst yet on my DFW journey! everything has cropped up that wasn't supposed to (grr)

Roll on Tuesday! Pay day for us too

Famous last words :( Checked my bank account this morning, and the bank had applied charges yesterday - Sunday  - taking me over my overdraft limit. I've just called them, and as it's the charges that have pushed me over the limit, then there "shouldn't" be a penalty. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

I've just done my first shop for February - £52.31. The main shop is from Asd4 (£42.31), but I bought a big box of cat food from Amaz0n for £10 delivered, which worked out cheaper than using Asd4 :).

I still need to update my budget for the extras I have this month, and I also need to tax the car tomorrow.

Car's been taxed and budget updated. It's not looking great for the month, but everything *appears* to be covered. Next month and the month after are my council tax free months, so a little breather ahead, phew!

We overspent in C0stc0 yesterday. I budget for about £130 and we went over by £50 . That included a large box of cat food and a giant jar of coffee though, so these will last a while. Means I will need to reduce the weekly food budget to compensate.

The fuel/train budget is very tight. I think I need to review this one and increase it. After allowing for our monthly train ticket renewals next week, we'll be left with about £125 for petrol to last the month. It's just so expensive :(.

I will shortly be making a payment to the target CC of £25, which includes a small overpayment of £3 :undecided. I'll do another payment later in the month if nothing unexpected comes along.

Feeling a bit down with the whole thing at the mo and just want to go and hide under a stone :(.

  • Just made a £25 payment to the target CC. This is a £2 overpayment, rather than the £3 I put in an my previous post :undecided, but a step in the right direction anyway.

We've decided to take the car into work next week rather than buying train tickets. We've both got a couple of days off later in the month, so it might work out cheaper. One to watch.

It's snowing quite heavily here today - this will potentially save me money as DS wanted extra money to go out this evening, but I don't think he'll be able to go now...such a shame...:o:p

  • Well this morning I'm on the trail of the "lost" £60 ;).

I asked OH to draw £60 out of the bank on Friday as I wouldn't be able to get to a cashpoint. This is the weekly 'spends' budget. As of today, it appears to have disappeared!

So far, I've worked out that:

    £20 gone to DD2 - £5 pocket money, £15 from her pay (which goes into my account), so £15 to come back to me;

£15 gone to DS - £5 pocket money, but then I don't know what he's done with the other £10 (he was going out, but ended up doing something else cos of snow...did he spend it anyway?)

£20 went to DD1 for a petrol top up for her car, but, because of the snow she didn't go to the garage and put the money "back behind the clock"...it's now disappeared

    £5 - who knows where???

So, that leaves £10 + £20 + £5 unaccounted for . DS and OH are both out at the moment, but I think a little interrogation when they get home is called for :rotfl:

  • oh blimey, i hope you find the missing money lol. I'm quite glad i've only got one big kid as the other two don't ever ask for money yet! DS1 on the other hand always wants money and then when asked where he has spent it he couldn't tell you !! Petrol is very expensive again :( and i'm debating whether to actually get rid of the car, it costs so much that i hardly use it anyway. The kids are a little bigger now so don't need double pram for buses & trains and it's just getting ds1 to and from school that has made me hold on to it S6mYrIZ2nXsDSp66X1Bv4aX5dTt2wN2SpWAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC !

Anyway i hope you find the money lol and thankfully feb is always a nice short month ;) so we should all make it through to the other side! xx

  • Well the interrogation of suspects has concluded that OH picked up all the various notes that were left 'lying' around. Then, thinking that he didn't have enough money for the day, he went to the cashpoint and drew out another tenner :naughty: (he said he only told me this bit because I was already annoyed anyway :rotfl:).

So, I then set off to investigate the remains in his wallet and found £15. So, £10 of this needs to go back into the bank, leaving £5 :(. Add to this the £15 I can take back from DD2s pay, and I have £20 left to last the week...and OH has nothing ;):p.

Not great, but glad I know where it's all gone....and I did enjoy carrying out the interrogation...is that very naughty of me *sniggers*!

  • :rotfl::rotfl:No definitely not naughty :p it has to be done these things! Missing money is a serious matter :rotfl:

I love the way your DH picked them all up though as if they didn't belong to anyone and were just growing around your house :rotfl:i bet he thought it was christmas :rotfl:
