  • I think I might be a little bit in love with you lot

Going to wait until I've got some money in the bank and get a replacement screen. I've just had the thing to pieces, and it definitely looks like everything's connected properly. Not too bad a job to do, either.

So the damage is due to pestilence.

I will try connecting it up to the telly first, as an HDMI lead is a whole lot cheaper to buy tomorrow than the screen, just in case she's done something else to it as well.

The Demon child (12) is just like her father - if in doubt, don't tell Her so she can fix it, just smash £$(*($£ out of it and deny all knowledge. I got rid of him years ago, but I'm kind of attached to her :)

She is currently laying low upstairs, having vacuumed, fed the cats, picked her dirty washing and rubbish up.

I think I should be able to keep this position of moral superiority for somewhere in the region of about 3 years. Then she'll be 15 and hate me anyway, whatever I do.

    Thanks again!

Whilst on eBay you should also be able to get a nice pink Christmas ribbon wide enough to tie around the Toshiba ready to give it back to DD come the big day. :D

hee hee, I like that, imagine the face,

  • I just wish she was little - she's 12, nearly as tall as me and just flipping cackhanded. :)

And about as subtle as a constipated buffalo when it comes to anything electrical.

I still have a Nintendo Game and Watch Donkey Kong from 30 years ago that works. Why she can't manage something like this for a year, I cannot understand.

    :wall: :wall: :wall:

    Hi,
hee hee, I like that, imagine the face,
We had exactly the same performance last year. Come the middle of November miraculously the Xbox 360 that I don't think had come out from under the bed for months was discovered to have developed a terminal case of the RROD - Red Ring of Death.

"Oh dear" says HO87 Jnr Mk3 "It's just in time for you to get me a new one for Christmas".

    "Yeah, as if" thought I.

£10 worth of bits from eBay, a frustrating but entirely fruitful couple of afternoons and alot of swearing later and the Xbox was fully functional again. Presented with it returned to its original box and wrapped in seasonal paper as an early present I think he realised he'd been sussed. However, he took it like a man and is still using it to hammer the hell out Modern Warfare III, Red Dead Redemption etc etc.

p.s. He did actually get a proper Christmas present as well. Unfortunately he failed his test and is still reliant on Dad's or his mates' taxis
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

    Same sort of thing happened to my Toshiba laptop,I've been told it's either ;

The ribbon connection between the graphics card? & the screen
    The screen itself
    Graphics card

I opened mine & one of the hinges had seized,so it fractured the case as I opened it.

Either of them are,I gather, expensive to fix, almost as much as a new lappy.Does the image tend to fade after a while, sort of gray out?

Its a broken screen. The panel has suffered an impact or flex damage. It needs a new screen. They cost around £60 on Ebay and are a DIY job for those willing to get their screwdriver out however without evidence of it being dropped, I would change the hinges as a precaution.
