Santander will reverse all charges incurred if you are under 10 pounds overdrawn and also will reverse charges whilst you are switching.
Also you change your direct debit dates with the company not the bank.

my experience which is ongoing with santander is hell thats why i refere to them as satan der we applied for current acc with them on a promise of £100 and £25 for each new customer which we introduced.............that never happened.........we asked for no overdraft but because they pick and choose who or which bills to pay on our behalf including dd s we found ourselves owing them charges even though we had no overdraft.......they pay some dd s then refuse the money to the companies for which we recieve a £25 charge for......unfortunatly this has dragged us into debt with them and staff are really unhelpful if you go in branch..we then asked for an overdraft to stop these charges and were refused but still will let you go overdrawn then charge you £25 even when we asked them not to.even if we go over by £1 the charge remains the same and charges are taken out before i get paid so £25 added again and they will not change the date for anything which has affected credit score and now we cant get another current acc anywhere..................:(

You don't seem very well informed.
Switch your current account to Santander and we’ll do the hard work for you.

It’s important you feel confident in switching to us, which is why we’ve introduced the Santander Switcher Pledge:

We’ll do all we can to switch your account within 20 days.*
We’ll go all out to match your overdraft – with no Arranged Overdraft interest or fees for four months.**
We’ll waive or refund all of our fees as you switch.
We’ll do the hard work for you and our dedicated team will help you every step of the way.

I suggest you visit another branch (though they are probably lethargic to help as your post suggests you opened the account online) or call customer services to get the charges refunded.

This is why I reccomend doing these things in branch as you have an adviser to go back to if you get any issues.

I also want to beg to I disagree based on my own experience.

Now I could see there have been much of improvement,

Their CS team is much more helpful then in the past
Their FP limit you won't believe it ... it is now £100,000.

They have beaten many of high street bank. It reminds me the race between the tortoise and the hare .... In the past even for the transaction of few hundred quids it was about hit and miss.

I get overdraft on two of my two accounts without even asking for it ...

Probably didn't think it necessary, being as you asked that question of another poster (ponbeam) when you quoted them.

It is irrelevant here if I mention who I work for.

But what I could tell which I believe is relevant to this thread is that

    - I am not working in any bank or any financial institution
    - I am just one of Santander Customers, so what I am telling here is based on my personal experience.
    - In the past I have criticized Santander for their customer services, and Faster Payments in this forum.
    - I do not get any gain by saying bad or good about any bank product.
    - I have many bank accounts in high street banks and Building Societies ..
