Santander £100 Cashback

Options
Hi, I opened up a Preferred account and receive account opening email on 04/07/11. I haven't receive my £100 cashback yet.

Just to confirm I have done this right:-

T&C:-
  • Switch your main Current Account to Santander
  • At least 2 DD or SO (paid at least once) setup on the account within 11 weeks of opening
  • Pay in 1k every month
Between 04/07/11 to 03/08/11 - I have paid 1k
Between 04/08/11 to 03/09/11 - I have paid 1k
Between 04/09/11 - 1k already paid in

My first DD went through on 03/08/11 - Natwest
My 2nd DD went through on 08/09/11 - Primus

11 weeks completed on 19/09 - Before this date as far as I think I have met the T&C.

Have I missed anything out? MS

Did their switching team deal with the DDs or did you do them yourself?

If they sent you a list of DDs/SOs you had on the other account did you cross out any before returning the list?

You seem to have done everything right, but have you also paid in at least £1K each month ? By my and their reckoning you £100 does not become payable until 11/10/11 so you're a little premature. There is a 14 week wait period.

"your cashback is paid into your new account 14 weeks after opening"

Mine was paid after 14 weeks and 1 day !

All DD was transferred by the switching team, received DD list - did not cross anything out. Yes paid 1k every month between account opening date and end date. Will wait until 11/10/11 - TCB of £55 has already been confirmed but not been payable as yet.

I had to complain to get mine.

They were trying to add additional T&Cs to wriggle out of it.

'Not using it as your main account' was one.

Typical of Santander. When I applied, their website stated the cashback would be paid within 3 months (which I'm soon coming up to), but I see they've changed that to 14 weeks now. Stupidly, I didn't take a screen print of the 3 months statement on their website at the time.

If they're going to try to get out of paying it on the grounds of not using it as a main account, then they should state in their terms and conditions the minimum number of transactions etc that satisfies them. They must be mad if they think people won't argue the point if there are no such requirements. I wonder why banks think they're the only ones who try to make money out of people. If they're going to be avaricious, then it shouldn't surprise them when customers take advantage of what's on offer.

I have a Santander mortgage and opened a savings account a couple of weeks ago with a view to getting the £300 but I'm confused about what they exactly mean by one of their conditions "or can deposit, at least £10,000 in savings with Santander. This must be deposited by, and still held, exactly 13 weeks after your current account has been opened". Do they mean that I have to deposit the £10,000 by 13 weeks of opening the current account? But how long will I have to keep the £10,000 in the savings account for?

They don't word it very well do they? If it were me, I'd leave the savings in until the cashback's paid out, then if you want to, withdraw it after that.

You have to deposit the £10000 within at least 13 weeks of opening the current account and keep it there until 13 weeks from opening your current account has passed.
  • my experience which is ongoing with santander is hell thats why i refere to them as satan der we applied for current acc with them on a promise of £100 and £25 for each new customer which we introduced.............that never happened.........we asked for no overdraft but because they pick and choose who or which bills to pay on our behalf including dd s we found ourselves owing them charges even though we had no overdraft.......they pay some dd s then refuse the money to the companies for which we recieve a £25 charge for......unfortunatly this has dragged us into debt with them and staff are really unhelpful if you go in branch..we then asked for an overdraft to stop these charges and were refused but still will let you go overdrawn then charge you £25 even when we asked them not to.even if we go over by £1 the charge remains the same and charges are taken out before i get paid so £25 added again and they will not change the date for anything which has affected credit score and now we cant get another current acc anywhere..................:(
