moving abroad with a contract Phone!

I am looking for some advice and help! I signed up for a contract with orange (18 months). I moved out to Turkey for work in March and Orange held my contract for me for 6 months so i would not pay any bills while away. I am returning to the UK in November until March when I will then go over to Spain for work. It was unfortunate I took out the contract in January this year! But at the time I did not know I would be working abroad. Is there a way I can cancel the contract or pay it off cheaply? any advice would be much appreciated!

Just pay the flipping thing off! I think if you pay it early then you don't pay the VAT on the remaining months without service.

Thanks........Yes this does seem like the easiest option and of course I will do it but was just looking to see if there was any more options. Can you lower the tariff price before you pay it off?

Won't it be best to ressume the contract when you get back in November and then cancel in March when you go to Spain ?
That way you will have less to cancel and have the use of the phone whilst here

You still pay all VAT on the full contract cost, it is an urban myth the taxman doesn't take his cut. The only benefit is the network may discount the agreed bundles due to early temrination, this might reduce the cost of the bundle (and the VAT) but only if the network decided not to charge for it.
