    £13k lesson learnt for them

    £13K for 2 weeks ? -Ouch.
You know, there are so many people who get stung every year with "timeshare" , "holiday clubs" and " vacation points" by buying direct or brand new.
This would be a great topic for an article for Martin Lewis.

If you look on ebay (USA) often they go for a $1 + admin fees from "DISTRESSED SELLERS" just to get out of their contract for the management fees.
You also have to be aware in the USA some are sold where you only get use every 2nd yr
Anyway, a general search on Timeshare hypermarket shows lots of bargains at £500.

In high (summer) season, If you want quality accom along the Costas, £500 wont get you a studio.
To a lesser extent in Canaries, high season (winter), quality accom is hard to get for what you would pay management fees.
This is where a timeshare can benefit.
If you buy correctly, ie Scotish Highlands, you can often get 2 wks in USA for your 1 wk too.
Its just a case of doing the maths,+ buying right.
