Gem - I've just caught up with this. I really feel for you, but I agree with everyone else. Your mum and dad will get their lightbulb moment when they get to the same point as some of us and don't have the credit to buy a pint of milk or the money to pay it back.
I hope you're OK.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
Hey hun, sending you a hug :grouphug: , don't be too down, as other posters have said, sometimes you can only help those who actually want to be helped and stressing about it isn't doing you any good by the sound of it. I learnt this with my bro and it only started to work out when he realised that he was spending more than he earnt. One he learnt the value of a pound he was on the right track but it took a long time for it to sink in. It's a tough lesson but we've all been there.
Try not to beat yourself up about it - what your folks have done with their money is hardly your fault - they must know it doesn't grow on trees.
Keep smilin'
and take some time to look after yourself. 0 -
I think my mother's light is on but needs the dimmer switch to kick in. She's really trying but then the guilt kicks in and the light fades a bit.
Father is in the dark totally, living underground.
It's so hard to "walk away" when you live in the same household and suffer the consequences of his selfish spending

Gemmzie, you've tried SO hard over the past few months to help them. If they aren't responding to that or even appreciating it then it is time that you step back a little. You aren't responsible for their debts or their recovery from them, especially not at the expense of yourself. Try not to feel guilty about it, but start concentrating on you. We're all here to help, even just to cheer you on xDFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kitten
