MBNA scam - credit card statements & charges

I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with MBNA cards
I keep getting an issue that the monthly statement does not arrive. I then get hounded with automated calls to my numbers until they get hold of me as they have not got their monthly payment.
Usually they refund the late payment fee when I speak to them but lately they don't even call & I find out they have charged me on the next statement.
Daftly I mentioned this to a friend who also has the same issue & swears its a scam to make more money from charges.

You clearly have Internet access so why don't you manage your account online. You also get an e-mail telling you your statement is available.
And as everyone on here will tell you you should set up a direct debit for the minumum payment, that way you never miss a payment and don't fall victim to this 'scam' which I doubt it is, I have never not received a monthly statement for my 2 MBNA cards.0 -
Have you checked online to ensure all your details are correct?0
-
Yes, When I rang them the other day they told me it had to be an issue with my post office.
Ive been doing some checking online & it appears to be a common issue for both business and personal customers.
I prefer to pay it off when I can rather than rely on a DD but legally they have a responsibility to deliver a statement.

No it's up to you to make sure you pay on time regard less of if you receive the statement or not.
Its not scam mbna is too big for this.
It's seem you wait for the statement and in case it does not show up you think it is ok not to pay.
Pay on time and you will be ok otherwise your credit record will also be bad.
It's always others fault for onces wrong doing.
It's mbna s fault for you not paying on time. People need to be responsible for their action.
If you think mbna is so bad why not change the card?0 -

I think this is the nub of the issue.
If your postal van was in an accident and your statement went up in flames then it's still your responsibility to pay on time.
You have accepted the contract and hence the potential charges.
We don't live in a perfect world. Accidents do sometimes happen.
You can use the phone or internet.
If there is a repeat problem then you need to get both Royal Mail and MBNA to look into it, but you still need to adhere to your side of the contract which you voluntarily entered into.0 -
Easy thing to do is set up online statement.
All card have the same condition for payment.0 -

They have no obligation to provide a statement, no card providers do. Obviously they all produce and send them to allow you to check for unauthorised transactions and to see how much you owe, but there is no obligation to do so.
And anyway, it's not MBNA that would be delivering the statement, so how could they have a legal responsibility to do so? Royal Mail deliver it.Getting married 02.08.14

Post goes awry all the time I'm afraid.
I have to say I agree with everyone who says to set up a DD as at least this means the minimum payment will be paid regardless. What I do is if I have excess funds I take into account the DD going through and pay the difference as an extra payment online.
Like the others said you can't rely on waiting for your statement as sooner or later MBNA will think you are trying to pull a fast one if this is the same complaint you're making every month.
I had issues with MBNA but this was cos they told me my DD mandate was set up when they had cancelled it, and that when the DD was re set up they took less money as the minimum payment than they should have done.0 -
