A message from parents to children

Read this recently - and I thought it worth passing on to all parents here :-

My Promise to my children ~ I am your Parent first, your Friend second. I will stalk you, flip out on you, lecture you, drive you insane, be your worst nightmare & hunt you down like a bloodhound when needed because I LOVE YOU!

When you understand that, I will know you are a responsible adult.

You will NEVER find someone who loves, prays, cares, & worries about you more than I do! If you don't hate me at least once in your life - I am not doing my job properly.

This is so right,i used to say this to my two when they were younger.

And I would also add
- as you get older I will advise you on the pros and cons of a decision but you have to make the final decision. But I will there, by your side, in case it all goes pear-shaped

I know when my daughter was 3 I felt like I was saying NO to her so much that I had to remind myself it was because I loved her.

Oh and add when something happens that I warned you would happen its not becuase I can see into the future, its because I have been around the block a fair few times and as a result know what's around the corner. But I will try and not say I told you so
