18185/1899 users connection fee 5p from 16/01/07

Well I must admit, I have sky and I do like the look of their newly launched package as I cannot get cable. Thing is are 1899/18185 shafting themselves by these increases? I believe 2 increases in the past 12 months = 50% increase. Now I am not quibbling about the deal too much however I put 11new customers on their books who all have broadband. now if the big companies are putting forward new packages to lure us all with the BB/TALK/TV, surely 1899 have to be cautious in this busy market of telephony?
orchid electronics have benefited from my referrals, 1899/18185 have benefited so the loop is cool. But the connections keep going up!! I hope the companies are watching this thread, in fact it would be good if they were able to comment??

looks like i need to change over to primus
currently on talk talk with free weekends and use 1899 rest of time.
any idea on how long it takes for the change over to take place?
also do i need to inform talk talk that i no longer wish to be with them

It takes about 14 working days to change. You dont have to tell TT only the new provider, but its worth covering your back. Might be worthwhile telling TT what you intend to do,they might offer you Free E&W calls to keep you.;)

I'll be keeping a close eye on my 1899/18185 costs* in the next 2 months to see whether just giving another £5/month to that nice Mr. Murdoch for the Sky Talk Unlimited CPS package will save me money.

* At 5p each, only 100 weekday daytime UK 01/02 calls would tip the balance now and, as we're making at least 2 hours of calls to Spain each month (4p connection and 1p/minute on 18185), I have a good idea of how the research will turn out ("Thanks and goodbye Primus Saver Option 2 CPS" and "Hello Sky Talk Unlimited CPS" in April looks likely).

It could have been worse! Todays Weekly Money Tips Email actually says that the connection charges are 5p/minute instead of 5p/connection!

18185 has saved me a fortune over the past year or so with their low cost calls to mobile phones. 6p/min on weekdays and 2p/min even with the connection fee is a good deal. I have tried the 0844 providers with my orchid dialler but their tendency to change the access number when call charges increase is very frustrating.

What annoys me is the fact that I've never been notified by email of any of the past rises and that even the people that do get emails get virtually no notice.

I agree, its like, yawn just getting out of bed. tell u what lets put up the connection fee tomorrow, damn good idea. kerching!!
