Never even considered China before for a beach hol but it does look lovely."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -
Hainan Island is the current flavour of the month for beach holidays in China — the "Hawaii of the Far East". There are plenty of international hotel chains opening up in China so you can expect Western standards (if that's what you want!). Several UK operators are offering holidays there now...0

Hainan is not what i'd call a typical Asian Beach Destination. It is popular with rich Chinese, golfers and has a number of big, brash hotels to fit.
It's not particularly pretty, or charming, and can get overrun. But as one of China's main beaches (they don't have that many) it is being promoted (Miss World was held their recently!).
In all honesty, if you want a decent beach holiday i'd tie in Thailand to your trip. You could use Air China to fly to Bangkok to have your stopover in Beijing (be wary - you will need a multi-entry visa) or open jaw Beijing and Bangkok with BA, and get a flight inbetween the two.
But just seeing Beijing would mean missing out on a lot, China has so much more to offer - including Shanghai, one of my favourite cities in the world.0 -
i am travelling with travelsphere to china in september, they have quite a few organised tours to china. we are doing an 18 day trip including various places including beijing, shanghi, xian and many more also spend the last 2 days in hong kongfinally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0

I must say, China is not a good place for a beach holiday. True, Hainan has been developed as a beach resort (it also has a reputation as a centre for sex tourism). But that is mainly because Chinese people have difficulty in getting visas for foreign travel, and are now in a position to pay for beach holidays. If you are willing to take a long-haul flight, then there are many places with far better beaches.0

so for a 2 week honey moon - 12 days in thailand and 2 days in shanghi/beijing.
who flies in between thailand and china?
where is the best place to go in thailand?
dont know the area at all?
where is the best place to go for a honeymoon! we want some decent shopping mixed with a good beach
major - beach
minor - shopping
or 3/4 of 2 weeks on the beach, 1/4 of 2 week in the shops.0
