Bought a new Car, have the V5, but no signature from previous owner

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help. I have just bought a car from a dealership (100% legit, they have been in the trade for 35 years). They had it in as a part exchange and I purchased it.
They taxed it for me and gave me the V5 when I picked it up. He said I should fill it in and send it to DVLA.
This is the first car I have bought through a garage (last one was private and the previous were done with my parents), so assumed this was standard procedure.
I have just filled in the V5, but there is no signature from the seller.
Will this be ok?
Can I send it back and enclose a copy of my purchase receipt, or how do I proceed from here?
Many thanks,
Tom.

Sorry - just to add, that the previous owner's name is on the V5 and not the dealership.0

Must be a good garage that (not), its their job to send the v5 off after filling in all the relevant details.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

just send it to the DVLA
its not your problem, its the dealers as its their responsibility to fill in the details and send it in0 -

100% legit but obviously not aware that it is the sellers responsibility to send off the V5, they should never have given it to you.
Take the V5 back to the dealer and tell them to sort it out, its their problem not yours, remember to retain the small green slip for your proof.0 -
As said its the dealer who must send the V5 you keep the green slip you also need to send a slip in cant remember what part (think it was yellow) as I did this the other week
edit I forgot I traded in my car so hence it will be me sending v5c in, I got it stamped by trader0 -

Whilst I agree with Slyracoon's first comment, I wouldn't take it back to dealer cos if they have been incompetent enough to give you the V5 then they may not post it off. Just send the section to DVLA with your details filled out, pop a note in if you feel the need to explain. Make sure you keep the New Keeper's Supplement part.
Also did you part ex? If so you need to send off the yellow slip from your V5 to notify of the sale of your vehicle. If you gave whole log book to dealer, then send DVLA a letter explaining given all info.

Have you done a HPI check on it?
If the dealer is so incompetent to send the V5 off themselves then its likely they didn't HPI check it. I would get a HPI check before you take any further action. A HPI check will reveal if it has oustanding finance, is stolen or is clocked.0 -

A buyer doesn't send anything to DVLA, unless they don't receive their own V5C, then they send a form V62 with the green V5C/2 they were given by the seller.0 -

I'd just fill in my details in the new keeper bit and post it.
The Log book may take longer to come back as they'll write to the previous owner to say someones trying to register.0
