it is not upto the GP though to contact patients to ask if they are ok, the onus is on the patient to go to the GP. GP's have enough to do without doing this.

I have read your other thread and suggest you take the advice on it about approaching the GP yourself or writing them a letter.

    Thanks,

But it does seem that there are some very good GP's out there that are very proactive and call patients in when they are asked to report on care/mobility needs.
I accept what you say, and on that basis GP's think everything is OK until they are told otherwise.
Many older people just don't go to their GP, which is a bit dangerous if GP's just assume everything is OK with a patient.

Many older people die because of this acceptance.

I know my mum would never even consider going no matter what her health is like unless I made her on the add few occasions

I had a relative that died from bowel cancer and never saw a doctor when she first realised she had a problem. Her symptoms (you know what they are) got worse and still never sought advice or help. This went on for 12 months until she died of it in bed at home.
    The PM confirmed it.
She played it down so much, that we all thought she had the runs!

As regards your final comment, I have in the past actually told the GP about mum when I have been there myself about something. All I got told was that mum HAS to come in herself and explain everything, they were not prepared to listen to me.
