Orange billing me past my cancellation date & not refunding

I called to cancel my Orange broadband account on 31st December & gave my 30 days notice.

On 8th January I was billed for 1 month in advance listed on the invoice as 8th January - 7th February.

I called them today to request a refund as that charge goes 8 days past my 30 days notice & they refused saying they don't give refunds! Is this correct?! It has made me furious!

This means that if you cancel 1 day after your billing date then you will have to pay for the following month too meaning 2 months minus 1 day notice!
