lost channels since switchover

I have an old 28 inch as one of my tv's and a freeview box which i have had a while in order to get digital tv

My switchover was this week and its affected my channels. I have retuned the box several times but am missing some channels. BBC one being one of the main ones?

I have plugged in a friends more up to date tv with freeview built in and all is well no problem all channels come through and in order.

This leads me to think it must be the box i have got then? Is the box not fit for purpose now?

Why have i experienced this can boxes become out of date?

Thanks.

You may need to try deleting all the channels first and then retuning again. Otherwise it may be a model that isn't compatible. Boxes can go out of date. Which model is it?

This is the list of incompatible equipment after full DSO. http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051492
  • This week was phase 2 of switchover, phase 1 was on the 7th September which was when the changes to the digital transmission of standard definition of BBC1 were made. Could you receive BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, CBBC, BBC NEWS and BBC Parliament these last two weeks? Could you receive pre-switchover digital TV?

A quick google search has thrown up a previous enquiry from someone in Devon when they switched in 2009. They had contacted Phillips and were told that the DTR 1500 could not tune to all the new frequencies (i.e get a new one)!

A more frequent poster was told similar but found that a '9900 reboot' brought the channels back. I don't know what that is but your handbook may tell you (or a google search may assist. It's worth a try before you bin it.

As I said in my post, it may be in your manual or do a google search.

I've done the search for you and apparently it does tell you in the manual but the person who replied typed it out as follows

    disconect power,
keep pressing '+' button while connecting power,
led will start to blink orange while red led remains on,
    release the '+' button.
briefly press the '+' button.red led is still on and the multicoloured led is blinking red.
    enter code with remote 9900
once entered, multicoloured led is green.in case of a bad code led stays red
wait untill the receiver re starts by displaying the first install wizard.

    Best of luck!

I've got freeview and did a retune on 7th september and added loads of channels, following the latest update (21st Sept) I've lost quite a few eg Film 4, Sky news and ITV4 anyone know why? I'm in West Mids
  • Spiff, that could be the tuning mix-up that the OP is having and will also be cured by a factory reset.

Alternatively if you have either all or none of the channels on each multiplex, it may be a reception problem. See this web page: http://www.ukfree.tv/txdetail.php?a=SK113003. If so, what is connected between your aerial and your Freeview receiver?
