  • Just ordered a Bosch one myself.

Found the UK Whitegoods site very useful. They've got a page here which lists which brands are owned by which company.

Bosch and Siemens are the same company, and their dishwashers are very similar. However, Siemens are more expensive, although they currently come with a 5 year warranty whereas the Bosch's only have 2 years.

My independent repair man advised against Meile or Bosch due to expensive repair costs, and recommended an Indesit which could be replaced with brand new two or three times for the same cost as a Meile.

Thats poor advice though, if the miele doesnt break down who cares how much the parts are. You may have to buy parts two or three times as often for other brands. Plus they more often than not have free 5 year guarantees on their dishwashers.

We have had hotpoint, whirlpool and Bosch and none of them are as good or convenient as the miele.

Well we plumped for a siemens, got a free 5 year gaurantee with it. It was a similar price to the Bosch equivalent. so far am well pleased with it. Loads quieter than our old Hotpoint one.
  • Hi, just about to order a dishwasher myself... do you mind me asking where you saw the 5 year guarantee? I thought they'd stopped that and now only offered 2?

I have a bosch on order, but if I can get a Seimens like this I'll cancel it.
    thanks

The 5 year guarantee was on the Siemens web site, think it ended on 31st January. It was advertised in John Lewis. You had to fill in a form and send off with a copy of your receipt. Mine came through in about a week after sending it off Recorded.

Have just looked and it is still available. Dishwasher is really quiet, much better than our old Bosch.

  • Well, our Seimens has broken after 3.5 years !!!

The heater element has gone, I have fixed the fault once (£85 for an element!!!) but it has gone again, so must be something else gone that is causing the heater to fail...

Cost of spares is just too high, and reliability is not all you might believe. It was quiet, but wasn't any better at washing than our old Candy...

So i am not going to spend £450 on another expensive German box. So what do people think of Beko? I can buy a triple A rated one for £160. They seem well screwed together.

    Regards,

    AB.
