  • When I was looking at replacing the Zanussi one I have at present Bosch was top of the list. Try to do some searching on Google for reliability etc and see what you come up with. Bosch probably cost more than Hotpoint though. In the end I got my Zanussi fixed for just under £150, next time it goes wrong it will be hello new Bosch. Try John Lewis or the many online retailers for best deals.

Hi, probably way too much info but these results are from Which?

No mention of Hotpoint though ( I've had a Bosch for 10 years now and it's still going strong. Good cleaning, drying, choice of programmes and reliability)

    Dishwashers Sept 2006

    Siemens SE55M570GBPrice: £520 Score: 72 %
This full-sized dishwasher from Siemens is our recommended semi-integrated model. It's similar to a built-in design, but with a visible control panel. It's well designed with a good main program, but the eco program's cleaning is a notch down on the very best. It's easy to use and quiet.

    AEG-Electrolux Favorit 40660Price: £335 Score: 73 %
This full-sized freestanding dishwasher from AEG is a Best Buy, with an unblemished set of cleaning results. It's easy to use but rather noisy.

This full-sized freestanding dishwasher from Miele is a Best Buy. It's outstanding on its main and eco programs, with unblemished results for cleaning, drying and leaving items smear free. What's more, it's quiet and very easy to use. It has a traditional, flat control panel.
Water and energy consumption is average.

    Miele G 1230 SCPrice: £670 Score: 78 %
This full-sized freestanding dishwasher from Miele is a Best Buy. It's outstanding on its main and eco programs, with unblemished results for cleaning, drying and leaving items smear free. It takes 12 place settings. Wash time on the normal program is 2 hours and 17 minutes.

    Miele G 2040 UPrice: £547 Score: 71 %
This full-sized dishwasher from Miele is a Best Buy. Drying is a little below par but cleaning is excellent. • We're on our 3rd Bosch.
Only lasted about 5 years each - programmes take a long time to run and the machine becomes noisey after about a year.
We have the delay timer to run overnight and noise from machine sometimes wakes me up.
    Kitchen directly below bedroom!

going to get the bosch - thanks doubt it will last the 18years my smeg has
but think its time to say bye bye to it. cost at mfi is £223 and I have £210
in vouchers so I am making it up to £250 by getting a bath panel.
    thanks again for your help

I know it's not on your list but we have a Hoover one and I'm very pleased with it. It gets used every day, we've had no problems with it and it's about four years old now.
We went for one with dials and buttons rather than electronic programming as in our experience washing machines with electronics have been problematic so we thought it may apply to dishwashers too. Simple design, less to go wrong. Noise isn't an issue for us as our kitchen is seperate and away from the rest of the house.

You cant get better than miele, they are built to last 10 years and they will probably guarantee it for 5 years. You dont need to get a fancy one, just their lowest in the range for around £300 and it will outperform most other dishwashers and probably last a lot longer than the others.

They also have the cutlery tray on most models which are fab, meaning you don't need a separate caddy for your knives etc so more space for plates in the main area.

I bought a Bosch dishwasher just over a year ago after doing a lot of research on the internet. I chose it because the model I purchased actually used less water than any other dishwasher I could find (think it is 14 litres compared to the 18 litres that most use), was AAA rated and came with a standard two year warranty.

I usually use the short cycle, which takes about 30 mins. Must admit that the other programmes take a couple of hours, but I understand that most other dishwashers are the same. It is a ridiculous amount of time, the manufacturers should cut this down to 1 hour max!
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Just got rid of our Bosch after 20 years - sorry to see it go. Replaced it with a Siemens that JL have on offer at the moment. Non marking stainless steel front and a 5 year guarantee from Siemens (until the end of January). It had one of the lowest water ueages and quiet.
