  • my mother (84 years old and very ill) had a visit from them a few days before xmas,we do not know how they got her details but after a 3 hour visit they 'eased her out of £2000 for a mattress. The money was taken within hours and we will be taking legal action to recover this.

You probably already know this, but there is a 7 day cooling off period as a minimum. If she paid via credit card, you have various sections of the CCA to recover the money.

Exactly same thing happened to someone we know, 85years, widow, £2000! around Feb 2012. When threatened with "watchdog" and "Rogue Traders" they grudgingly refunded £500. Very poor show what a sad bunch of losers!:
  • Someone said on this subject : visit an independent living centre there's one in most regions, they are resource that is free to use, they have lots of samples to sit on, leaflets to take away, and you will be seen by someone who understands disability (probably an Occupational Therapist) who will give advise but doesn't sell anything

yesterday my 94 yr old mother who has onset dementia was pressed to buy a mattress from this company for £1400 the money was immediately requested from her account. Luckily she thought something was wrong and thought she was being silly to phone me... Thank goodness she did I have asked them by email today to cancel the order, thats within the 7 day cooling off period I wait to see if this happens.. I have also reported this to the police, watchdog and rogue traders. I would not recommend you deal with this company as they seem to deal with frail elderly by pressure selling.

don't threaten anything just report to Police , watchdog and rogue traders. This form of selling to our elderly and vulnerable relatives is totally evil. I have requested they cancel the order within 1 day of the order being placed and reported this to all of the above. we shall se if we get our £1400 back. If not then its court for them.

Signing in as a different user as I have forgotten my log in details.re cooling off period, they visited mother 3 days before Xmas, took full payment but their offices closed over Xmas and new year period so the cooling off period was over by the time they opened again in the new year.
Good news, even though Meadowvale did agree to cancel the sale we did not received the money so we ended up putting in a dispute with the debit card provider and the payment was reversed.
The mattress they were selling her was of no use to her it was designed for people with bed sores, she has arthritis.........

  • This company visited my parents a few days ago. They were under the impression that a physiotherapist was visiting my father. It is not known how they got my parents details. Once in the house the salesman went upstairs and was trying to pressure them in to paying around £2,000 for either a mattress or some kind of massager for the bed (details sketchy). They were offered £400 discount if they signed the deal there and then. Fortunately they declined. When asked to leave a business card or leaflets, the salesman said he didn't have any.

In July my mother was visited by rep.from Meadow Vale. She parted with £2100, for a chair that is not fit for purpose. It causes her pain and discomfort.
Made verbal complaint on 7th day and followed it with a letter. I have sent several letters, which they say have not arrived. Numerous phone calls, all of which have not been answered. Now I am sending emails. I have been advised to take them to the small claims court. I have rejected the chair, quoting The Sale of Goods 1979. I would value any further information on the company.
They seem to be targeting the vulnerable.
